Tablo Exporter - Export Tablo Recordings

No problem, and I agree, not being able to find the main class when it is the manifest is basic stuff. Kind of made me scratch my head.

First things first, thank you Jestep for the very nice tool.

With this latest spate of problems with the update causing recording to fail/disappear/whatever it’s really nice to have a nice tool to export recordings you want to keep preparatory to wiping the drive to see if that helps the effort (I notice number of recordings have no metadata, this looks suspiciously like a cause).

Especially appreciated is the wonderful handling of the Plex output handlng, that alone keeps me from using the Python alternatives or trying to roll my own manipulations on top of ffmpeg.

One question I have for you is whether you have looked at your performance behaviors? Just stop watching it I appear to get a lot better performance forcing the program to process a single file at a time instead of letting the program queue them up and process 2 at a time. It appears that it is bottle-necked somewhere. But exporting hundreds of programs one at a time manually is not worth it,

This may of course only be my set-up (Tablo -> OS X -> NAS (Drobo)

But what I see is busy, but not saturated Network activity, really low CPU (between 5-15% cpu per ffmpeg process).

My suspicion would be that one or the other disks is slowing things by thrashing (most likely the NAS box in my experience).

So, my question is, is it possible that you have a setting that I can throw in your oh so nice tabloexport.properties file to constrain the number of files it tries to handle at a time?

I’ve almost completed the export (10 more files), but just wondered about this for future use (from now on I do not plan to go so far into the hole on getting exports done.

Thank you again, very nice tool you have provided.

I started with 1, but since I do not force a speedy export I moved it to 2. My whole idea was to be able to export and also keep the functionality of the Tablo. Too fast and it can cause issues exporting, too slow and people don’t like that.

Having said that, it is something I was going to originally add as a user choice, but going to 3 or more almost makes it worthless, so maybe having a user setting for 1 or 2 might make sense.

Thanks for the question/idea.

I don’t see a download on the OP. I guess I’m a noob tonight – Help please.

Version 0.04d is available at http://jettsoft.com/products.html

Don’t forget to get the latest version of ffmpeg at https://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html

Also make sure you have the latest Java from http://www.java.com/en/

Extract the zip file into a directory of your choosing this goes for both ffmpeg and TabloExporter.zip

You can run by double clicking on TabloExport.jar or run from a command line using java -jar (dir you put the jar)TabloExport.jar

Hi Jestep,

First, thank you for your software. I just completed downloading and tried my first attempt at moving a file to my laptop.

Just one question (at least for now). In the Tablo Vieo Exporter box where I make my selections, I am not sure what to chose in ffmpeg file. Everything else is obvious.

Much thanks!!

You need to pick the executable ffmpeg file. It is not built into the application

You can get it here : https://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html

Or for Windows here, just make sure you unzip so you have the exe
http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/

I do have that.

On my desktop I have a folder in which i have downloaded ffmpeg-2.8.2 and
table exporter. When I open the exporter file, I get the Tablo Video
Exporter box. The bottom third of the box I am asked to make some
selections. The first is ffmpeg file, the second is Output Folder,
followed by Output format, etc etc. I have no idea what to chose for
ffmpeg file.

Are you not understanding that? You need to put the path/file in there. That is why there is the little button next to it with the …

I do understand that. However, I have a Mac.

Same thing, file/path. Just click on the … and select the executable.
On my Mac it is like this:

/Users/johnestep/Downloads/SnowLeopard_Lion_Mountain_Lion_Mavericks_23/ffmpeg

Example:

Boy, I really am not an idiot with this stuff, but I am not seeing what you are showing me.

I am using OS 10.10.5.

I put the two program in a folder on my desktop.

When I open ffmpeg-2.8.2, it looks like this:

So, your program is asking me to pick one of the many files listed in my last screenshot (obviously there is more than what I could fit in the screenshot.

What am I missing here? I am sorry this is such a headache.

Ahhh what you downloaded needs to be built. I would suggest for ease to download from http://ffmpegmac.net/

They have taken the build process and done it for you/us

Glad you got it working!

I am considering trying to pull off recordings before I do a requested factory reset and remember seeing this and Tablo Ripper. There are over 800 posts between the two and wondering if you know or can suggest which one would do the job. Thanks for any help.

Well, mine is cross platform, so Mac, Linux, and Windows. You have to select the show to export. With Tablo Ripper it is Windows only and runs as a service and pulls the shows off in the background.

I guess it is your preference, do you want to install a Windows service or run it manually?

Thanks for getting back so quick! Just need it one time at this point so I imagine manually. Sounds like I picked the right one to start with although I may need some guidance. So I saw post #505. Is that everything in one post?

Yes, should be good.
