Yes, well, no. Tablo Connect is a function of the Legacy Tablo, not the streaming device you use, so you’re connecting directly to the Tablo, not the streaming device. I don’t think any compatibility is needed.
That’s not actually the case. Roku for example does not support Tablo Connect in the legacy apps (never has)
Oh, I see what you mean. I usually just use my phone for Tablo Connect and I forgot about taking a streaming device. My mistake.
@TabloTV With respect to the Guide subscription and remote viewing: how long will these be offered by Tablo? Please address this specifically for those with the Lifetime Guide for what the anticipated sunset date will be for the guide service so we can plan accordingly.

There’s no anticipated sunset date for the legacy guide subscription and guide data. As long as the APIs work, they’ll keep working.
I believe it’s a misunderstanding, “lifetime” subscription doesn’t claim it’s your personal lifetime. It’s for the lifetime of the service. If/when it’s discontinued, that’s the end of it’s lifetime.

Offtopic corollary (?): When you “buy” that media on Amazon Prime (or other), you might not be able to actually play it (up to them). Physical media ftw.

TabloTV already answered you from the 30,000 foot view. But more specifically ONN was updated and runs Android 14. Any app that runs on Android 14 should work fine on an ONN. I find that manipulating things on android 14 makes more sense than doing the same things on fireOS, which is what firesticks use. They both are easy though ( assuming you don’t buy or have the “stupid” Vegas version of firesticks). If you buy those you are completely at the mercy of Amazon and they will TELL you what you can and can’t do. Even on the older Firesticks they have disabled ADB debugging which severely cramps a power user’s experience. For a casual home viewer the older Firesticks still run fine. Pay attention to the STILL in my sentence because Amazon could change that anytime they wanted to.
On the remote connect thing again: The new Tablo “black” app on a legacy Tablo connects in under a second when I click on Wireguard to my home router. Just about every current model router comes with the Wireguard software in the VPN part of its admin panel. Setting up wireguard, since the router handles all the ports, etc… for you behind the scenes takes less than a minute start to finish (of course I have been doing it for years). Folks can stop making such a huge issue out of remote connect. If you simply spend a few minutes learning to create your own way in you will find it makes the “Tablo method of remote connect” feel antiquated because it truly is. Some will grimace by what I just typed but seriously its a non issue once created and so easy and you are forever good to go!

The main reason I went with Tablo is because of the remote access, so I really hope they get remote access on the new app.

I agree with what @tandelor said. If you want remote access you should explore VPN/remote access options into your home network. Note that if you are recording/watching live TV with a very high quality it could make remote viewing challenging. The remote connection would need to have reasonable bandwidth, else you may get a lot of buffering. I have done a few experiments (using my Legacy QUAD) with quality set at 5Mbps and the results were satisfactory.
The 4th gen Tablo records programs with a very high quality, which I don’t think is adjustable.
Quick question…
Now that all Legacy folks are on the new firmware and are using the Gen4 apps, are all those Gen4 features available?
Specifically is “Offline Mode” now available for Legacy devices?

I wouldn’t be able to try it, because of this ongoing problem while using Roku.
I could probably try it if I didn’t use the Roku. I’ve never tried it before, anyway.
