Help Shape the Tablo Roadmap

The quad is probably the best option, but sounds like you may consider his/her’s…

But that would require another disk drive, which the OP doesn’t want to do.

Thought it was consolidation, with quad, dual to save the marriage;-)

The only comment about his marriage was that the wife controls when he can upgrade.

TRUE Thumbnails during playback without having to wait for 10-15 minutes; for the program to fully-finish; none of that stuff. TRUE, INSTANT thumbnails on playback - IE Roku TV, ChannelMaster, et al.

So what your saying is you want it to do what pretty much every other DVR does?

Hmmm, we could also add storage in native format, tie a device to each TV, make it harder to stream across networks and much less the Internet. There’s lots of things we can do to make Tablo more like other DVRs.

I assume this is some defensive sarcastic response. Not very constructive. So your saying you Don’t want Thumbnails while watching , rewinding or pausing Live TV? You prefer the way it is where you have to blindly try and figure out where your at in a show?

Sheesh… just kill the planet… then… you win!

I’m of the mentality that nobody actually ever wins, in the end we all pay the price.

I prefer to have the Tablo have the flexibility it has to work on all devices. If that means that you can’t get thumbnails while watching live tv, then so be it. I remember when this product had no thumbnails at all, and it still sold well.

I remember rotary dial telephones, I certainly don’t want them back. This sounds like basic fear of the future and or unknown. Don’t touch it you’ll break it mentality. I do the exact opposite, make it work better up until it becomes convoluted and then take a step back.

Is it possible that it’s because what Tablo offers doesn’t match the other DVRs? Roku TV only has to worry about playback on it’s own device for example, Tablo supports many different playback devices. I’m not saying it wouldn’t be useful, just that I would guess it’s a trade off to allow for other features. In this particular scenario, it’s a trade off I’m perfectly happy with since I rarely watch anything the same day it is recorded unless I’m actually watching it truly live, not time-shifted a few minutes.

It appears comparing OTA DVRs, they vary great in features, technologies and functions. Some only connect via HDMI to a single TV, other only work with their propitiatory devices, some come with storage. One brand uses native format, another uses one compress - for everything. They are vast variances between OTA DVRs.

Right, I don’t use a proprietary player - they are useless to me. I can set buttons to jump a set time. 1min 3sec and 15sec. A commercial comes along and I tap 1min 3 or 4 times, maybe a 30sec and a 15 to fine tune things, and I’m done. Not actually blindly, there’s a slider and elapsed time and total time, but tool bars are completely customizable, so what works for you.

More isn’t always better - call it a feature and… it’s better. A simple utility interface to do what you need to do quickly and simply - less is best.

Apple has figured out how to have features and still maintain that simple user interface. Others can do the same.

I’m not sure why people defend a product so much when it’s clearly missing one basic item, thumbnails when you rewind or resume pause form a live stream. Outside of that, hey great product…mostly. Perhaps it’s a patent issue, Tivo I think still has most of those.

Apple is far from perfect.

Isn’t Apple the company that sometrimes releases an OS update that slows down the current phones and reduces battery capacity so as to protect me from catching on fire during charging?

one basic item - ability to watch recordings on my device over my network solely with out the necessity of internet connectivity! :exclamation:! :grey_exclamation:

I believe the defense is directed at the alleged missing features/abilities not specifically at the overall product.

That’s highly subjective. I challenge the Tablo forum faithfuls to create a new topic: “Tablo: What could be done better?” then actually come up with some items. This current thread is clearly been killed off. I have an idea…no you don’t…I have another idea…No…you really don’t.
