UPDATE - Roku Revamp + Amazon FireTV/Android TV Apps

I just got it installed and it is working.  :smiley:  (Just do a system search for Tablo, and the app will show up)

Note, on the FireTV, you have to go to Settings -> System -> Developer Options, and turn on “Apps from Unknown”.  That allows the Tablo video player to work.

One thing I really like so far compared to the Roku is that you can leave the app, do something else, and then come back to the Tablo app and be right where you left off.

Just waiting for the new Roku app now.  Me and thousands of others… :slight_smile:

Sent it to down load to both my devices. I know what I am doing over lunch!

New Fire TV Stick app works great. After first install I had to reboot the Stick to get the app to load.

I can confirm Tablo Connect aka remote viewing works on the Fire TV once the device has been paired on your local network.

I miss the thumbnail preview on FF of the Roku though.

Thanks @TabloTV @TabloSupport

@TabloSupport - The only issues i noticed in my limited testing of the new FireTV app is that the Recordings screen no longer shows unwatched count on show poster :-/

@PiX64

I see the same bug.

Just installed the app on my FireTV, and it wouldn’t play any recordings. Reboot fixed it. Now however, when I try to play LiveTV, the cursor control doesn’t work. Can’t change channels, can’t select play. Any suggestions. First time using the Tablo on the FireTV, so maybe I’ve missed something obvious.
Looks great

Okay,  ready for the roku upgrade… [-O<

@jurrassicjockey, did you do this step?:

If you don’t do as snowcat suggested then the Tablo Video Player cannot be installed.

I just watched an hour long recording and no buffering or freezing issues at all on the Fire TV Stick. FF worked great and it was fast.

Update: watched live TV for 30 min and no issues on the Fire TV. Looks like the one week wait was well worth it.

Hey folks,

The Fire TV app is indeed live! We’re just waiting on a more ‘formal’ announcement until the new firmware and Roku channel are published. Feel free to leave any comments and feedback in this thread, we’ll be checking in :slight_smile:

Not to seem like a pest, but where is the Android TV app?

Just installed the fire tv app. Great job. One quirk I see on the live tv guide is the clock. It’s two hours earlier than my time zone (CST). I don’t see a way to fix that. My zip code is correct for the guide. Any ideas?

@tommyhmpls, verify that your Amazon FireTv is on the correct time zone.  It is under settings -> system

Ha…good catch snowcat. That did it. I don’t use the ATV very often…more Roku than anything but I bought one when they came out just to try it. Surprised I never set that!

Only other issue I see so far using it for the last few hours is slight pausing every few seconds on CBS during live TV. I don’t see that behavior on the ROKU app. I’m rebooting the Amazon Fire TV now.

Now I see the behavior on more of the live tv channels. I checked the Roku app and the same channels play fine. I am testing this on a TCL Roku TV with an Amazon Fire TV also attached.

@tommyhmpls

Is your Fire TV hard wired? Or WiFi? If WiFi, try the 5 GHz band.

Everything is wireless. I have multiple dual band access points around the house. Doing some troubleshooting now. Looks like the ATV was connecting to the access point in the basement while the Roku TV is connecting to the one closer upstairs. I’ll have to tweak some stuff here. Guessing it’s the weaker connection that’s causing some very slight pausing/skipping.

I can confirm this mini-pauses behavior for Live TV, it doesn’t happen with watching recorded shows.  I have rebooted and both my Tablo and FTV are using wired ethernet.

I have seen this mini-pauses behavior with the Beta FTV app when watching recorded shows but I guess they fixed the problem with recorded shows.  I didn’t notice the mini-pauses for Live TV on the Beta but it’s probably because I wasn’t watching Live TV a lot.

O ! one other thing that the Beta did better is when you set the default screen to start-up on Recording, it actually do that every time,  but this Released FTV app version goes to Live TV every time even if you set the start-up screen to Recording.

Going back to the sideloaded Web App now, can’t watch Live TV with mini-pauses every 20 seconds
