Tablo Roku App (4th Gen) Update (v. 1.0.0 & 1.0.1)

That’s typical functionality with our FireTV Stick 4k Max with a filmstrip and multi-press on the FF button to advance, each press advancing one frame. On the Roku, the behavior prior to this update was a single press on the FF button with a filmstrip which advanced frames until the play/pause button was pressed, with each subsequent press of the FF button going to 2x then 4x FF.

Now, it’s a single frame and single press on the remote to advance and a poor experience. I wish @TabloTV would acknowledge this and let us know what happened and their path forward.

Another vote to restore the press-and-hold function to the right and left arrow keys to scroll through the thumbnails.

Hey, I stumbled across a new feature since the update. If in the Guide you select to display only your “Favorite Channels,” it is now persistent when you exit and then return to the Tablo app. I have only tested it a few times, but has consistently stayed on “Favorites.”

This has always worked on my ONN device, but never on any of my Roku.

Thanks for reply. I’m new on the forum. So if i understand, its because I’m using Roku with Tablo that i had hold down to FF to get back to show. I think the frames were bigger before the change. I’d like Tablo to fix this.

I’m lucky to have router next to tv, tablo less than 2 feet and roku 3 feet from router. Both tv and tablo connected bt ethernet. No connection issues.

  1. Please make the preview screen larger when using FF and REW
  2. Please add back the date to the recording when paused
  3. Interface with recoding’s is slow and less responsive. As I try to look for a recording the UI freezes. It takes much longer to move to the recording I want to play

Hello All,

I have checked multiple other topics but I still seem to be having some trouble.

I have Tablo 4th Gen Whole Home DVR (4 Tuners) and a Roku 3820X - Streaming Stick 4k

Tablo Firmware: 2.2.54 - 2433716

Roku Firmware: 14.1

Initially I had the Tablo connected via ethernet cable directly into my Xfinity XB3 router. Then I tried having both the Roku and Tablo connected wirelessly to the same network. They are both connected to the 5ghz Gateway network and have the same network subnet.

The Tablo works on my phone app (the phone is also connected to the same wireless network), but the Roku can not find the Tablo in the Tablo TV app.

I’ve tried resetting both devices along with power cycling, and deleting and reinstalling the app on the Roku.

The real bummer is I had a Legacy Tablo hooked up and working on the same Roku/Network.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you,

I’m having the same problem on a 3810X, 4660X (old ultra), and 4850 (new ultra) since the new update (1.0.0). Going to try restarting my eeros now.

I had some similar problems early on. I found that if the Roku Tablo App can’t connect to the Tablo, if I then open the Tablo App on my phone, it helps the system connect. After a few days the connection became much more stable.

Another thought, if you router offers a 2.5ghz network, try connecting to that. Not as fast, but more robust…and still plenty fast enough.

Same with both my Ultras (older and newest) and even my old Roku 3. All are on 14.1. Just get “Connecting to your Tablo” forever. Just got the brand new 4th gen 2 tuner yesterday. 1.0.0 loaded by default. Everything is updated. Tried with and without wifi, wired ethernet, etc. They NEVER connect. Works perfectly with smart Samsung TV, smart Sony Bravia, all Apple iPads & iphones. Just no Rokus!!! WTF!!!

Similar problem. Roku 3 connected to Tablo, Roku Ultra 2022 connects to Tablo, latest (2025) Roku Ultra can’t see Tablo. Any suggestions? I have done all the usual rebooting, switching from Wi-Fi to wired, reload apps etc.

My Tablo software updated to 1.0 several days ago and everything was fine, with Roku Ultra 2022 and Streambar.

Today i can’t get either Roku to connect to the Tablo4 four tuner.

Everything works fine on my android phone.

I have same issue. Gen 4 Tablo 4 channel. Roku sticks throughout house on 4 tvs. Latest updates on all sucks and each Tablo app on them. Uninstalled, reset, and reinstalled. Tablo will only connect on one device. All the others just stay on the “connecting to you Tablo…” screen.

What is a Roku 3 and how old is it? You might try restarting your router.

Has there been any information about which Roku devices are experiencing the new connectivity problems? Is there any pattern to it? I have several different Roku and am not experiencing any problems.

My Roku Ultra 2022 and Roku Soundbar are both not connecting, starting this morning.

A Roku 3 is a 4230x
Roku Ultra 2017 is a 4660x
Roku Ultra 2024 is a 4850x

All are on 14.1.4. Theybuodate automatically.

I have submitted a ticket. I don’t have high hopes there will be a software update very soon, since 1.0.0 is so recent, but the more tickets they get, maybe they will find the issue sooner. I have rebooted restarted uninstalled reinstalled everything that is possible. I have many many years professional IT & Network experience. I am quite positive it is simply a software incompatibility issue between the current Tablo Roku app, the Tablo itself, and the Roku software. On every other device (6 others), the Tablo app and connection, recording etc, is perfect. No complaints. It is only with the Rokus, which is not SERIOUSLY a big deal for me except one of the reasons to get the Tablo was that the 2 older Rokus are on computer monitors.

Via a simple HDMI switch I can switch between the Windows computer or the Roku and stream anything, so it doubles as the TV in the 2 rooms that the computers are in. The Tablo was then going to let me watch recorded (or live shows) on the monitors if I wanted, while working in those rooms, and in one instance, with the Roku, replacing an old (2017 LOL is old !!!) Channelmaster Plus DVR with only HDMI output, that, while still working, the Guide is no longer supported by them, so it has limited recording flexibility. The Tablo is honestly a far superior device in every aspect. If it only worked on the Rokus!!

For reference, if you go to settings/system/about on your Roku’s, you can find the exact model number.

Thankfully I still have the Legacy Quad Tablo up and running!
