Tablo Roku App (4th Gen) Update (v. 0.8.300 & v. 0.8.401)

My 4660x ran 720p live tv for over 40 minutes before I gave up and my 480i doesn’t have any green screen affect. But my Roku is direct connect to HDMI.

… aren’t all Rokus connected to a television through HDMI?

Some go through a HDMI repeater that first acts as a sink to the roku source and then that device acts as a source to another HDMI sink device. But my roku’s aren’t on ARC. My firetv stick 4K is on ARC.

So the answer is really no under those conditions.

Yes, but I have an extra layer where the Roku is connected to the soundbar via HDMI, and then the soundbar to the TV via HDMI. So the soundbar is just in the middle of the HDMI run essentially.

Ran my Roku stick and my Ultra for over 30 minutes now with no serious issues. I did have some slow response times clicking on a channel on my Roku Stick (took about 5-10 seconds to acknowledge the click), but that was about it.

Tried FAST channel, 480p, and HD channels, and all worked as expected with no buffering, dropouts, or partial screens.

Which type of station is your 480p. All of my OTA 480 channels are 480i.

I know this was meant for @snowcat but all of my 480s are 480p. A bunch but as examples, dabl, cozitv, foxwx, catchy, defy, laff, metv

Do you mean what the gen 4 channel list says these OTA are versus what they are really broadcast at. The gen 4 also says my OTA 1080i channels are 1080p.

I don’t think so.

Yes, it is what the gen4 says. I’m not sure what source to use to see if they are really 480i. Only source I’ve used for antenna coordinates is channelmaster and I don’t see that they provide resolution info.

I looked it up on my legacy, and they are 480i channels.

The question I ask 3-5 weeks ago is whether tablo gen 4 upscaling these channels(480i and 1080i) or is the channel list just screwed up.

The channel list on the Roku app is screwed up. The channel list on the ipad app shows 480i and 1080i. So does a TV with an antenna.

I would that believe that. But I think they are using sony tuners and I can’t find any specs on that tuner. Some newer tuners can do some real magic.

how does a company producing an ATSC 1.0 OTA DVR product have that slip all the way through internal testing and beta testing.

Bought mine at thanksgiving, buggy like this the whole time, dont jerk yourself off, return it, their software sucks and they are clearly not capable of handling it, stuck w mine but theyll never get my money again

My Roku Ultra, is working slightly better with the update, recorded programs seem to play better. There is an improvement, from the dropping out to back to the home screen constantly, now it only does it about 15 minutes after watching live TV, for me this is an improvement but definitely not fixed. I updated my open ticket on this last night but have not had a reply yet.

Still no fix for the sound but no video on tablets.

After updating to 0.8.401 I still have the Tablo Roku App crash back to the Roku home screen. Last night this only happened once while watching live TV for several hours.

Another thing that has been happening for the past month or so is when watching live TV through the Tablo App the Roku video will just freeze. The Roku remote is unresponsive when the video freezes. After about 30 seconds, the Roku reboots itself. This also doesn’t happen very often. Last night it occurred once.

I have checked Roku version, rebooted Tablo. Still, every 15 minutes or so, the Roku forces me out of the live TV show and puts me back to app page on Roku.

Any suggestions, many thanks.

Hello, @Juanita12 .

What model of Roku are you using?

When is this happening: Live TV? Recordings? Both?

Are you clicking on the channel name or show name?

Do you notice any particular behavior when this happens? (Buffering, signal loss, etc.)

I’m still trying to figure out what exactly causes this issue for me as well. It feels pretty random since I can watch for hours without a hitch, then get booted out no matter what I try. Other times, I get booted out, click on the show again, and it plays fine. My newer Roku handles live TV better, but with buffering.

The more information you’re able to provide, the better that TabloSupport and others on here can try to help. Maybe others with your same Roku model have found a “trick” that doesn’t work on others.

This started yesterday 1/2/24. It is a new behavior. Probably after receiving this latest update. While watching recorded episodes things go ok for a while, then eventually the watched episodes will not delete. We select delete and nothing happens. The only way to get it to delete is to exit Tablo, then go back in and everything’s ok for a while. Also when episodes will not delete you cannot select another one to watch as it will not start. It goes to the endless spinning circle but the circle only spins for about a second, then freezes. Again we have to exit Tablo then restart it to watch more episodes.
