Tablo Desktop Player (gen4)

For the raw “ts” files, just concatenate them all together and I believe that works.

Yes, it powers on, but the power supply could be degraded to a point where the lights are on but it doesn’t provide the amperage required to run all the components.

I’ll try my friends power supply and see if that works then. If not, will try ffmpeg.

Thanks everyone!

I installed the Tablo Desktop and all I get when run the application is a blank window. I’m running windows 11, is there something I did wrong on the install ?

Thanks
Steve

Do you not get this initial window? Mine’s dark mode, but yours should be similar. I also have 2 Tablo. Also, I see yours says “tablo-player” in the title of the window. What file did you download? I wonder if the app needs access to the network, through the Windows firewall.

I did not get this screen, I downloaded the exe from the link in this posting " download it here."

Should I be using a different link ?
Thanks
Steve

I had this same problem. Make sure you’re running the latest 64 bit version of VLC player.

I had the the 32 bit version of VLC already installed and when I selected a channel, the VLC would show the play arrow but would not display any video. Once I downloaded and installed the vlc-3.0.23-win64.exe version it worked!

I used to use** Linux File Systems for Windows by Paragon Software. It works quite well.

** Replaced Windows with Linux Mint, so no longer using it.

That was the issue, I needed to install VLC on my computer. The Tablo Payer is now working with the exception of I cannot see my Movie list, its blank. The Series list shows the recordings, but the Movie list does not.
This is way cool
And the down load, a little slow but it works, I like this.

The downloaded video works great, This is NICE !!! Good Job senke7su !!!

Nice work! Video loads super fast and runs smoothly.

I now have a real workaround for the Storage issue with the 4th gen Tablo, THIS Application (Tablo Desktop Player). Works very well … The only issue I’m having is I cannot view/access the recorded movies on the Tablo. I can convert the TV Shows and copy to a local folder on my PC, and they play back very well, but not the movies, hope there will be a fix soon.
I can’t say enough good things about this application, its just great …

My workaround is as follows:
I use the Desktop Player to convert TV shows and copy to a local folder on my PC. I have set up a network drive as a media server on my local router. I copy the TV shows to the network drive and access the content (TV shows) from a Roku using the Roku Media Player. Works great !!! No more lost recording because of the Tablo …

Happy Camper !!!
Thanks Again for this app !!!

Steve

Are you getting any error or pop-up message when you try to save movies off the Gen4 Tablo? Seems odd - I don’t know why you’d be able to save TV shows but not movies.

The following is what I’m seeing:

  1. Start Tablo Player
  2. Select my Tablo
  3. Select Recordings
  4. Select Series
At this point I can see the TV Shows that I recorded, I’m able to download, all is good.
  5. Select Movies
All I get is a blank window, the recorded movies are not listed.

The above is the issue I’m seeing, Is there something I can try to help debug the issue ?

Hey Steve,

Are these recorded movies from your OTA/Local Antenna channels or the FAST streaming ones? Unfortunately my app doesn’t support any of the FAST content.

I recorded a OTA Movie and it is listed in the window, it looks like only the streaming channel movies are not displayed. Thanks for the information, Do like your Desktop Player.
Is there any plans to include streaming channel content access via the desktop player ?
Thanks again for providing this application to the Tablo community, its very good …
