Tablo App keeps shutting down while watching

I agree with you with it not being compatible . I worked on this for hours and decided to try another in place of roku. The ONN has been on for two weeks without a problem. I was getting kicked back to roku home screen after an hour watching live TV, sometimes sooner. Noew it is fine. I hope they fix it because I like the roku much better.

I shouldn’t say it is the roku and not the tablo, But my old tablo worked fine with roku only my 4 gen has given me problems. I only way to fix for me was with the onn in place of my ultra. I am running both tablos now and they are working great together. It could be a firmware problem with tablo or roku, but they should be fixing it for us,

Same issue here with my Hisense Roku TV running Roku software version 12.5.5 build 4174-94 and Tablo firmware version 2.2.48.

Tablo disconnects and goes to Roku home screen after watching live tv for a few minutes. This does not occur when I’m watching live tv with my Google Chromecast with Google TV.

Noticing that while I continue to get “kicked out” randomly to the Roku home screen when watching local channels, I do not seem to be having this problem when I am watching the streaming channels via Tablo…so the problem seems to only occur when watching local channels. Not sure if that is what everyone else is experiencing but hope this helps!!

Could confirm it could be something with MPEG2. I assume the streaming channels are MPEG4.

I am still having this problem (dropping back to guide) about every half hour.

My system:

Tablo 4th gen FW 2.2.48
Roku Ultra 4802X SW 12.5.5
Tablo App on Roku v. 0.8.401

All of the system is connected by Ethernet (no WiFi).

Fortunately I can use the guide to go back to the channel I was watching and then scroll back to the part I missed when the Tablo went back to the guide.

Just addding my two cents. Same problem as the rest with Roku and Tablo. I had an older Google Chromecast which I’m now using and it works flawlessly with Tablo. Other two TVs with Roku do not.

Thank you Brad for tring that. I found the same thing by using an Onn from walmart and I tried my tivo and it worked well too. Only goes bad with my roku.

I am having this problem also (dropping back to guide) about every half hour.

My system:

Tablo 4th gen FW 2.2.48
Roku Ultra 4802X SW 12.5.5
Tablo App on Roku v. 0.8.401

I attached a ClearStream 4MAX UHF VHF Indoor Outdoor HD TV Antenna with 20-inch Mast.

All of the system (tv and Tablo) are connected by Ethernet (no WiFi)
.
I just installed this system during the past week. I currently have a 128GB USB memory attached. I ordered a 1TB usb that should arrive in a few days.

in my case it is only with local channels as well. In addition to this I have recorded live local channels and watched playback with no issue. so could it be only with live ota viewing is the problem?
Is Tablo working on a fix? it is not acceptable the way it is. may have to move on to another platform

I have 3 different Models of Roku they are all shutting down. I purchased the Tablo about 1 month ago haven’t been able to use it for over half the time. I keep buying more stuff HD and Rokus but nothing works piece of crap don’t buy it.

With all due respect… I completely understand your frustration, and you want something to work that you paid for. I get it.

Not only that, but I have 4 Roku TVs, 2 Roku Ultras, 1 Roku 4K+, and 5 iPhones… that work against the Gen4 Tablo. Not saying I didn’t have issues, but I worked through them.

The Tablo device is fine for me. It’s the Tablo app that’s garbage! If it was a Roku problem, all the other numerous apps would fail too! Tablo should get their heads out and hire programmers who know what they’re doing.

Comparing streaming only services to an OTA solution isn’t really an apples to apples comparison since I would guess most of those services aren’t starting with MPEG2 content as the source content. I’m not arguing the reality issues that still need to be addressed by Tablo, just the comparison.

Still having same issues as everyone else. Any tablo reps here that can give us an eta as to when we are going to get some relief in the form of firmware, software, or roku app update?

I just received a message from Tablo asking if I would recommend the Tablo to my friends, maybe my enemies.

My old Tablo Quad worked perfectly (almost 3 years) until about a month ago (always on Roku Streaming Stick & Roku TV). Became unable to watch a local channel because of a hard drive issue, so rather than get a new HD, I opted for the 4th Generation model. Got it today, set up took some figuring out, but finally got it. When I wanted to actually watch something it would shut down and return to the apps menu on Roku. Does not matter which channel or which TV, same result…sometimes 1.5 minutes. 2 minutes, even got up to about 12 minutes. Everything else works great, Sling and other apps. This is totally unacceptable. This product has been out long enough to have had the kinks worked out by now. It’s a problem between Tablo and Roku, and the only thing that has changed is Tablo, so please let me know a solution as soon as possible, thank you. P.s. I have done all the troubleshooting procedures between Roku, my router, and the new Tablo unit.

Please anyone with the Roku OTA live crashing problem. Open a support case with Tablo (if you have not already done so). Squeaky wheel gets the oil. At some point hopefully we get a manager’s attention in the bug report rollup. It is not clear anyone from Tablo is monitoring this forum. Cheers

Hi folks - There’s no need to report this bug.

It’s something we’re well aware of and we’ve been doing some intensive testing to investigate.

We believe we’ve found the source of the issue and have reported our findings to Roku.

We are working on an app update with a workaround until Roku can provide an update with a long-term fix. We’ll provide additional details when it’s ready.

Posted 5 days ago, with still no resolution. How long have you known? How long is it going to take?
