Whenever I see a channel buffer even once and even before I watch some stuff, I usually pause live tv for about 30 sec so Tablo isn’t working off live and that usually does the trick for me too and I don’t see any buffering after that while watching that channel. My reason for doing the 30 seconds pause is because I found out that paid service, like fubo …, delay their streams by about 30seconds off real time and I’m assuming that’s to avoid dealing with buffering issues. When I go direct antenna vs Tablo live on sports, I notice the delay is at most about 1-3 seconds. That doesn’t give much latitude if a transmission, your device or your internet has any slight delay or hiccup.
By the way, I’ve got 4 ota and 2 fast streams going at the same time right now while I’m watching recording of current nfl football game with my 4th gen 4 tuner and everything is going fine.
But I tried the pause thing on my testing Express+ earlier and I didn’t have a problem with it playing “live” TV for about an hour. IDK how long it would have continued, but I’ll test it again later when I’m not busy.
Fire Stick 4K came yesterday. Took the Roku Ultra out of the system, replaced with Fire Stick and things have been working very good. I’ve got the spinning wheel twice , but for only 15 seconds and then TV comes back working great. I’m on Starlink internet so my bandwidth isn’t the best, esp during the Packer game.
I have a fire TV stick and when watching a recording it just freezes and then after many tries with the remote to get the recording to continue Tablo will on its own do a restart and then I can go back into the recording and it will resume where it hung up.
I have both the older 4k firestick and 8GB of memory with 6.7.0 OS and a new 4K FireTV and 16GB with 8.1.0.1 OS and I’ve noticed that the old firestick from time to time has that issue and I usually clear the data and cache and reboot and that solves the problem. I don’t remember having that occur with the new fireTV but every once in a while I clear the cache and data and reboot just out of habit.
Are you going into the application settings and clearing the cache every time?
Have you tried holding down Play/Pause and OK (the center button in the circle) for ten seconds? Sometimes this fixes app issues and is so much easier to do that going through 8 clicks to get over to Manage Applications.
Thanks for the tip on holding down Play/Pause and OK. This is not just a ROKU issue as my fire TV 4k stick is having the same issue. So it is a universal problem!
Just a stab in the dark… is anybody here that is having problems hooking their electronics up on a hidden network? I had my roku ultra and tablo 4th gen running on a hidden network and had all the same problems everyone here was having. Went into router settings last night and checked box to broadcast ssid, and now that network is unhidden, tablo and roku play nicely together!
I got Tablo set up shortly after Christmas and it was working great until we returned from out of town around January 2nd. Now the app crashes after 5-30 minutes of live streaming. It doesn’t appear to be an issue with recordings, but we have only tested one since we don’t use that feature much.
Roku Model 4802x
Roku OS 12.5.0
App Version 0.8.401-734366
Tablo 4th gen
Tablo Firmware 2.2.48
Ethernet connected
I always broadcast my ssid. My brother asked me to setup his network because there are so many wifi in his neighborhood and he was concerned about someone trying to get in so I named it “Warning: Serious Malware detected” as a joke on top of other security and he loved it so much that he kept it. Nobody is going near his wifi anymore.
I’m looking for an alternative to Roku. I’m experiencing the same issue many have listed with random disconnects from a 4th Generation Tablo back to the Roku home screen.
Roku unit is a 3810 Roku Streaming Stick running software 12.5.0 build 4178-50 with a wireless connection to an AT&T hotspot Netgear router.
Tablo 4th gen is running firmware 2.2.48. Viewing Data is off. Within the Tablo app, Roku is listed with the application version 0.8.401 - 734366 showing the model as 3810X and Roku OS 12.5.0.
Is there something that works reliably and doesn’t disconnect?
@Hunt4Fun have you had any success yet? I just recently got a Tablo and Roku Ultra combination and I am having this issue right off the bat. Everything works fine for recorded programs, but anything streaming shuts down one the program has ended. I would definitely return it if I could at this point
Out of curiosity, are you watching a show by clicking on the channel or the show name?
I used to have this problem if I clicked on the show title about 3 Roku versions ago. It’s just habit for me to click on the channel name/number now if I want to watch continuously.
(Although, sometimes the Roku will boot me to the live guide randomly. 10 min, 2 hours, it’s a guess, but it happens sometimes.)
Hi everyone … I just purchased the Tablo 4. I have 3 TCL Roku TVs (50", 55", and 65"). Tablo works great on the 50" and 65" but crashes and goes back to the Roku menu on the 55". All of them are running the same update and has me completely stumped. I’ve tried all that I can think of to get it to work … so, I’m just adding my name and problem to group in hopes that it’s fixed or someone can help troubleshoot the issue. The main reason I got it was to stream antenna TV to all TVs without having to be hooked up to the actual coax cable.
UPDATE: Saw on another thread that pausing live tv for about 10 seconds keeps it from crashing. So far, that has done the trick but it would be super nice to not have to do that step.
