Roku 14 and Live Grid Concerns

Moving this to the Roku 14 thread in order to keep everything in the same place.

I just found out that none of my college football games are recording.

I looked live and absolutely nothing is showing. I rebooted the tablo and that didn’t help and the antenna is in the position it is always in.

I did notice that the menu structure for the Libary menu has changed but don’t know if that might be the issue.

I just checked and the app on my phone is working fine. I am able to see all the channels including my USC game which I can watch neither the recording nor live.

I can’t see anything live on my TV but can see everything fine from my phone to the tablo.

I can also watch from Prime on my Roku so Roku is not the problem.

I just tried replacing the App on the Roku and it still doesn’t work.

It is also not recording. So I have to watch it live on Roku but since I need to go out, I will miss 2 of my games.

Did your Roku just update to OS 14. See

Can you schedule recordings with your phone?

I am using an old Roku Express device which was working fine before. But the version is now 14.1 and the Digital Output was set to Auto. I set it to Custom and Dolby and it now works fine again.

My other TV is using a newer version Roku Streaming Stick and that is working fine but the OS is 13.1.4 and is set to Auto (as the other one was). So I assume that if an update comes through where the OS goes to 14.1, it won’t work either.

It could be an issue with the different devices as well as we had problems with the newer expresses where we got pixilation but the older one did not.

Apparently, the system is doing recordings fine. I was able to see my recordings on the Roku stick and on my phone but not on my older express. So the Tablo was working but not with the Roku as it is now.

Moving this to our Roku 14 thread to keep everything in one place.

Is Tablo honing in on a software workaround for this?

Well my Roku Ultra 4800X finally updated to Roku OS 14 on my recorded shows the audio and video both work fine but the digits for how long the episode is is broken showing an X symbol that looks like the strike system that the Gameshow Family Feud uses. With live TV both Audio and Video work and I can watch live TV.

My Roku Ultra 4660X updated to OS 14.0.4 sometime in the last couple days and everything works but I get the X symbol as @fender178 described. I think that is a font issue. Roku OS 14.x must have changed or removed some fonts or font sizes and one of them is the font the Tablo uses. My Roku Ultra is connected to a receiver and not directly to a TV.

Looks like it. I have seen this on PC before with just boxes where text should be on foreign websites.

I am using a Roku with a 2018 Samsung 65" TV. I am unable to watch any live OTA channel. After selecting any live OTA channel from the guide, the spinning circle appears for a few seconds and then the guide reappears. The live channel never show. This has been an issue for about 2 weeks now. The Tablo app is not compatible with my Samsung TV and the Tablo app is not working on my Roku streaming stick as described above. All other apps on the Roku are working perfectly. The Tablo app is the only app not working properly. From reading through this community and this thread, it appears the Tablo app has been defective for much longer than 2 weeks. When will the Tablo app be fixed so that it works properly and displays LIVE OTA channels on the Roku?

Thanks.

Same problem with my New just received Tablo V4 on Roku Ultra.
i.e. No OTA Live or recorded programs are working on antenna channels - Just spinning wheel and back to guide. Tried antenna amplifier on and off - same behavior.
Haven’t tried the Roku sound change yet, but it looks like you need a sound bar or external amp/speaker for that, but will try tonight.
Streaming channels work fine
Tablo V3 with guide subscription works great on same Roku, TV and antenna.

More info: I have 2 Roku setups both with OS 14.0 and one works and the other does not. Both tested with audio through HDMI to the TV speakers. Changes to audio stereo and dolby settings didn’t seem to make a difference.
My Roku Ultra LT (4662RW) with OS 14.0 works with Tablo V3 and V4
My Roku Ultra (4660X) with OS 14.0 does NOT work with live OTA channels on Tablo V4 as mentioned above. Works Fine with Tablo V3.

The whole thing is frustrating. Tablo customer support keeps saying “we are aware of this issue, however, we do not have an ETA on the fix”. I spent $3500.00 on my 2018, 65 inch Samsung TV back in early 2019. I purchased the Roku for around $40.00. I purchased the Tablo for about $120.00 four months ago. Now, the Tablo app does not work on the Roku and the app is not compatible on the $3500.00 Samsung TV. Every other app works perfectly on the Roku and works on the Samsung. But, the Tablo app doesn’t work on both. This leads me to believe that Tablo isn’t really working on this problem, or, Tablo is not addressing this issue with any sort of priority.

Tablo explained that I will have to spend more money in order to get their app to work. This would involve buying another streaming stick, such as a Chromcast, or something else. If I have to do this, I will probably throw the Tablo device into the garbage and buy a Silicondust HDHomerun tuner instead. I am not so sure Tablo will fix this issue anytime soon and if any other issues arise, Tablo will not fix it in a expedient manner… Its been more than 2 weeks since Tablo knew about this issue and it is still not fixed when all other apps work perfectly on both devices.

It’s almost mindboggling that this can’t be figured out. Are you too cheap to call in a contractor? How many people are you losing who will never buy your product again that you never hear from? Does the CEO of this company even know about this issue?

Excuse my French, but GET THIS FUCKING PROBLEM FIXED.

Hey Tablo, in one of the other threads, New LG TV Update, you gave a status report on a fix. In that case, that the fix had been sent out to the vendor, LG, and you were waiting on them to approve it, and push it out.

Updates like that are really helpful. At the very least, it lets us customers feel like you are paying attention. Your silence on this issue is really frustrating. For some folks that may only have one TV and one Roku, they haven’t been able to watch TV for more than two weeks. You haven’t really commented on this issue since October 1.

What is the status? Is Roku being at all helpful? Have you found a fix, but it is in testing? …anything…

I know that the Roku OS14 bug is not your fault, but it is your problem.

Hi everyone, I know this and the several other issues on the Roku app are frustrating. You can be assured that everything possible is already being done to get fixes in place. There is a limit on what information can be provided here at the moment, but we are still in communication with Roku regarding the OS 14 problem. It is absolutely one of our top priorities.

As far as some other issues, like watched recordings being filtered out of the Library view, that and a few other items have been addressed and a build submitted on our end. Much like LG, we are at the mercy of Roku’s review process. We should hopefully have some good news for you in the very near future.

Thank you all again for your patience and understanding.

Fortunately my Roku Ultra 4802X has not updated to version 14 yet (when I stupidly checked for an update it asked if I wanted to update and I refused). If it updates automatically I can not do the Dolby work around because my TV (an old Panasonic) does not have Dolby. So my Tablo is useless with my TV until the Roku app gets updated (if it ever does).
