Roku 14 and Live Grid Concerns

The response, from the Tablo Admin, is nothing but a generic word salad that they keep providing the public regarding this issue. Tablo keeps blaming Roku and their OS 14. There is nothing wrong with the Roku OS 14. The fact is, every other app works perfectly on the Roku OS 14. This includes both apps from Tablo’s two competitors, the Silicondust HDHomerun tuner app and the Sling AirTV tuner app. As a result, it doesn’t sound like Tablo is working night and day to get this issue resolved. I am definitely not recommending ANYONE to purchase the Tablo.

I guess it finally had to happen. After 10 months, I finally have encountered a bug that I cannot work around. I have the same problem in that if I select a life program to watch it goes back to live program grid. Here are the details:
Roku ultra 4670X
Tablo app 0.8.800-734366
Roku ver 14.0.4
Symptoms:
Select live from the Tablo menu Channel grid shows up.
Select a show to watch. Dialog box appears with five choices.
Select “watch live“. After the spinning circle appears for a few seconds, it goes back to the live grid screen.
On the bright side, both my iPad and iPhone app work just fine, so I can live stream from either portable device to the television, but certainly not a very good solution. Hopefully, Tablo can find a fix soon as my one-year warranty is close to expiring

TV guide for OTA channels on Roku Express 4K+ is inop! The internet supplied channels are OK.
I tried my Google Steamer and Tablo works fine.

This new upgrade has officially BROKEN this Roku version!!! Please fix this

If you been reading the forums… Tablo is aware.

TOOOOOOO many issues, with toooo many symtoms, to scan!!

Look at the thread called “Roku 14 and Live Grid Concerns.” This has been an ongoing issue for several weeks. That thread includes a possible workaround.

Moving this thread accordingly.

Both my 4660RW and 4670RW are now on 14.0.4 / 0.8.800-734366 / 2.2.52. Surprisingly, I can launch shows from the live grid on both.

I’m curious. @Ron1, are both of your Roku devices connected directly to the TV or connected through another device, like mine? I have a Roku Soundbar (it’s now called Streambar Pro, can’t think of the model number) connected to a TCL Fire TV and a Roku Ultra 4660X that is connected to my surround receiver which is then connected to a projector. Both of these works fine (except for the font issues) with Roku 14.0.4 and Tablo 2.2.52.

According to a reply that Tablo posted earlier today on Facebook, they have pushed out a fix to Roku. It is now in Roku’s hands. I hope that is true, and I wish they had said that here.

Here is the reply I saw on Facebook.
“Our team has already submitted an app update with Roku fixes; we’re now waiting on Roku to publish this update. When this happens, your Tablo app will be updated automatically and this issue should be resolved.”

To be clear, the specific issue revolving around the Tablo app on some Roku OS 14 devices having problems playing OTA channels is not addressed as of yet in any upcoming release. There’s no ETA yet on that, but as mentioned we have it as a high priority, and will let you all know when we have more information.

I doubt Tablo is even working on this issue. Every other app works correctly on the Roku. Tablo is the only app not functioning correctly. This has been a known issue for longer than 2 weeks and there are no updates as of yet.

Three of my Roku Ultra devices (4802X and 2 4670X) all updated to Roku 14.0 in the last few days. The Tablo Gen4 (2 Turner version) continues to operate properly.

Consider yourself lucky. This issue is affecting so many people and Tablo isn’t working night and day on this issue as they should be.

Thank you for the clarification.

I am told the last time this happened, it took Tablo over 2 months to push out a fix. This Tablo device may be seeing the garbage can soon. The Silicondust HDHomerun is the better tuner.

I just checked and the problem also exists for programs that I recorded OTA as well as trying to watch live programming. I look forward to a quick solution to the problem.

@exwxman95, both of my Roku Ultras connect directly to the TVs. Sound is from the TV’s speakers. Settings/Audio/Digital output format is set to Auto.

The time stamps on both have the font issue.

Just installed my new Tablo and have the exact same issue.

Roku Ultra (4801RW) - Choose an OTA channel, get spinning icon, then it goes back to the guide.

I had high hopes for this product, but will return it within the next 30 days if this isn’t resolved.

I can all but guarantee this isn’t a Roku issue as every other app installed works flawlessly and has for years.

Also, I tried the temporary “fix” mentioned in this thread and have video but no sound.

Tablo - You gained a customer with your marketing, but will lose one if you can’t deliver.

My Roku Ultra automatically updated to version 14.0.4. Amazingly I am having almost no new problems. I still can watch, record, and playback OTA programs. The only new problem I see is that the the times displayed when scrolling through a program are square boxes with X’s in them (this is a known issue). This is surprising because my TV is old and does not have Dolby sound so I can not try the suggested work around.
I still have the 0.8.800 disappearing recording problem (Tablo claims they have submitted a fix to Roku).

If Tablo and Roku can not quit their finger-pointing and fix the problems, Tablo may just have to admit that they do not support Roku devices. Reviewers are noticing that the Tablo app on Roku is very buggy.
