No Problem, glad it helped someone!
If I could just figure out my old Sharp TV I would be all set! But I’ve abandoned that
because I rarely watch TV via Tablo on that set.
I had same issue. Replaced my Roku with the new Roku ultra (2024) and all tablo problems disappeared. Its a shame that tablo support doesn’t tell you to do this. They just let you twist in the wind.
Here’s a new one pertaining to the bad v14 update. While my Roku Ultra is playing Tablo local channels that have the no sound v14 issue, I can power the TV off for for a moment, then back on, and have picture WITH SOUND for 5 seconds. After the 5 seconds the sound shuts off and a picture overlay appeared that says “An incompatible audio signal has been received. Change the output device audio settings to PCM.”
If Tablo Support dared to say that, the user base would be up in arms. I am not surprised that latest Roku hardware works well, but the Tablo should support multiple generations of Roku (but certainly not all that have ever been made).
Agreed. Tablo worked with my original roku until the recent tablo update. Apparently the update accommodates the new roku and messes up the old. They should have the ability to revert to the older tablo version when needed.
I have 3 Roku. An Ultra, a Premier, and my Roku Smart TV. All 3 Roku are operating on version 14.0.4. The Smart TV that is connected to my Tablo has worked playing OTA and DVR recordings when on the prior release of Roku and on the 14.0.4. The Smart TV is connected via HDMI cable if that helps. My other Roku units have not been able to play sound portion of the OTA or DVR programs ever since updated to 14.0.4. I did change to Custom and Dolby on my two Roku units and was able to play the video but no sound ever since the change.
I have the original issue that started this forum: I can’t watch OTA channels. I can add that I have the same Roku Stick in two different TVs of the same brand (Samsung); one is newer than the other, and the issue is only with the older one.
Model: Roku Stick 3810X
SW OS Version: 14.0
Thanks for pointing this out for LG TVs. I just started experiencing the problem last night and finally took the time this afternoon to review. I was able to change my LG settings for the HDMI. 3 to bitstream and that seemed to handle it. I had also previously changed the settings on Roku as had been suggested in the Tablo post. Anyway, it all works now so I’m a much happier camper than last night.
Update to previous post. I have tried the work arounds, and none work. I have 1 of 7 ROKU boxes that works currently, and it is surprisingly one of the older units. Broke down and now paying for PHILO to be able to watch TV until TABLO can push out a fix. Here aer details on teh latest
I have a 4ht Gen Table SID_5087B850B461 Firmware: 2.2.52 With ROKU Model4670RW firmware 14.04.4 (5 of these) application version 0.8.801-734366 ALL AFFECTED BY THE SAME ISSUE
Speaker bar Roku Model 9104R same software and firmware ALSO AFFECTED (This is the newest ROKU)
I have 1 that is a model 4662RW that is running same app version and firmware version 2.2.52 BUT THIS ONE WORKS FINE, ONLY ONE IN THE HOUSE.
Yes, I have done the audio output change as well as the work around for turning off closed captioning and no change. I cannot load live TV. When trying the window opens to WATCH NOW and then it closes after a brief spinning circle. I also cannot watch recordings on any except the one. This of course has been going now for weeks.
Sorry you’re running into this.
We do have an update, see: Update on 4th Generation Tablo Compatibility with Roku OS 14 - Announcements - TabloTV Community.
Live OTA channels crash and burn
When choosing an OTA channel from the live list it tries to load then returns to the directory. Same for any recordings. Still no resolution after 4 days talking with support. Have exhausted all of their “fixes”. They say “we’re working on it.” It seems to be problem interfacing with ROKU. Tablo works on iPhone OTA but not with ROKU. HELP!
This is a known problem that was caused by Roku’s ‘upgrade’ to OS14. Roku has been little help. You can find the latest on this problem here:
If you want to follow the whole discussion from when it started look here:
There is a workaround:
In the settings for the Roku device, go to Audio → Digital Output Format → Custom, then make sure Dolby Digital is selected for the Dolby section. Can leave DTS off. Then go back to the Tablo app and try again.
For some users this solves the problem, for others, they get picture but no sound. It seems it has to do with the combination of Roku and specific TV.
Moving this to the larger thread in order to keep everything together.
