opps.. I did a factory reset before I saw this post.. Am I screwed, or will it detect once the server is backup?
You’re screwed. You just lost anything you recorded.
Welcome to the club, that is what my phone says when trying to connect as it cannot see the tablo, it won’t until the Tablo servers are communicating with it which is causing this whole issue.
How about a simple option that requires no Internet connection after software is installed on a supported hardware device? OTA antenna, configure Tablo device on LAN, run channel scan, watch TV or recordings.
This is why all IOT devices need to have a local only fallback that provides minimal core functionality without the need for an Internet connection.
Obviously, guide data would not be available as that comes over the Internet (beyond what is cached on the device at the time of the outage).
But viewing Live TV, watching recordings, manual scheduling, and even essential device configuration is possible.
Just saw this and have not seen this update posted here: UPDATE July 28 - 7:30 a.m. ET
Despite working throughout the night, our third-party server host has still not resolved the problems affecting the server infrastructure that houses Tablo connectivity services.
Progress is being made but we do not have an ETA for restoration at this time.
When service is restored, no action will be required on your part for your Tablo to regain connectivity.
We will be sharing a more detailed update later this morning.
Thank you for your patience.
Have alternating blue and white flashing lights and apps on multiple devices are not finding the Tablo. Reset and power cycled with no change. Was working perfectly for about a month after installation. Connected via ethernet cable directly to the router, showing on the network and responding to pings on it’s IP address. Does anyone know what these lights mean?
I don’t know the answer to your question, but I’m thinking if it were happening to me, I would try rebooting the router. Maybe you did that. Just thought I’d pipe in, since you’ve had no response yet.

Seems to be having trouble reaching Tablo’s servers.
There have been no changes to the router since it was all working a few weeks ago. I can see the Tablo is connected to the network because I can ping it’s IP address. Does anyone know the IP address for the Tablo servers?
Solved. The router settings really had been changed. Internet access was turned off for the Tablo. Not sure how that happened but I’m sure I did it. Pinging the Tablo still worked but it could not get out on the internet.
Changing things in the router isn’t the only reason to reboot it. While it’s not normally something you need to do, it can cause a few hiccups when there are connection problems between the two devices.
So the alternating blue and white flashing lights have come back. This time I suppose it is because of the Tablo server outage. Bad timing. Missed recording something I have been waiting months for. Server outage reported here: https://www.tablotv.com/my-status/
Our offline functionality is something we’ve been working very hard on; we’ll share more about it soon.
This unforced error was the last straw! I’m done with Tablo after 10 years and three Tablos. Just placed an order for a competitive networked OTA Tuner/DVR solution. Hopefully my new choice will be a more reliable one with better support.
Watching local channels should not rely on anyone’s servers anywhere.
I’m a software developer. The Tablo 4th gen user interface is well crafted and operates well under “sunny day” conditions … but good software should be designed for exceptions. This user community points out that Tablo should provide core functionality when the Tablo servers are down but it goes further than this. These are specific shortfalls which need to be addressed;
- Implement a notification procedure to advise users of any service-impacting issues.
- Retain access to recorded content when the device needs to be reset
- Provide restart and reset options, selectable from the application**; pressing the restart button or plugging/unplugging the device can easily lead to corruption of the Tablo database requiring a factory reset.
- And of course provide core functionality for the Tablo user when servers are down
These suggestions were previously submitted, but no action was taken. If the issue is a development budget, then consider charging a nominal fee (e.g., $10-$20/year) to make this a viable product.
Nobody’s perfect, but………
It’s this kind of upset that will drive an average, layperson, non-geek, absolutely bonkers, and scare off potential customers by word of mouth.
OK, but I’m a Ford and Chevy guy.
I bought a Ford, and the motor broke. Then I bought a Chevy, and the motor was fine, but the xmission broke. So I got a Dodge and the paint went bad. etc.
If it ain’t one thing….but pls let us know how your replacement device works out. ![]()
I’ve been thinking about a Zapper. But it costs more, and any NTSC3 advantage it has now may go away once the final rules are written. And it is also not perfect. I don’t like how they beat around the bush in their advertising, and you have to hold on and have faith they will make the upgrades they promise.
