Resolving Tablo Server Outages - July 27 & 28, 2025

Went through the entire performative routine again and while the Guide appears to be fixed, I still can’t record my program, whether it is currently playing live or going to a future “airing.”

Right now I have a screen up that reads across the top a check mark for Series Recording Scheduled and Recording Options.

Down the left there are Recordings, Scheduled, and Upcoming Airings (which is selected). There are 0 Conflicts and Failures.

It also says Sorry, there are no upcoming airings in the next 2 weeks, although the program airs every weekday at 4 pm

When I click Series Recording Options, I get a screen that says it is set to Record all episodes with the defaults.

But when I return to the Guide, the program is not selected, and if I do select the program and click Record Airing I get the Unable to record due to an error message.

I never got this message before this going on two week outage and I never encountered Record airing until this snafu. Are you sure you haven’t introduced new variables that you aren’t checking for?

An outage at Linode servers around the world caused all models of Tablo DVRs to stop working…

That was over a week ago, and the 4th gen unit here is still not working. I can record shows that give me a Record Episode option but not anything that says Record Airing.

I still haven’t seen anything addressing this discrepancy between Recordings and Airings that only appeared on my unit at the same time this ongoing annoyance began which makes me suspect that change has something to do with the recording problems.

Well, at least we now have more details: Tablo server outages caused authentication issues when Tablo devices changed IPs after the servers came back online.

That’s old news. Here is part of the opening post to this thread.

Note the bit that says they have allowed normal operations to resume for all Tablo devices. We have no reason to think the guide issues resulted from the Akamai outage other than the timing. If I had to guess, I’d say the Tablo folks scrambled the guide when they created their “workaround”. They are still scratching their heads trying to figure out what went wrong. We’ll probably never know.

Very aware it’s old news, but it’s the first time I have seen external reporting beyond Tablo support.

This is the first day that I woke up and the entire grid for today is filled in. This may be a bit premature, but I think TabloTV has figured it out. Fingers crossed it’s been a long struggle, but I still feel the product is a good value for the small amount of money.

Grid looks better but still can’t record ‘Ended 56 years 4 mths ago’

It’s one thing to have the grid filled in. It’s another to whether those shows can be recorded or not. Please select several shows (especially sports and national shows) to see if it gives an error or not.

Time to take action: Clearly, Tablo support is not converging on a fix, and Tablo continues to market the product on Amazon.

The only way to pressure Tablo (Nuvyyo, Scripps) for a fix is to hit their bottom line. Instead of daily reporting the same guide issues, I suggest we collectively request that the product be pulled from Amazon until a fix is deployed.

This can be done by selecting the link on the product page “Report an issue with the product or seller” and select “other”.

I did this and submitted the following: The programming guide (essential for recording programs) has not been functional since 7/27, rendering the DVR function inoperable. This has been widely reported on the Tablo community forum (https://community.tablotv.com/) . Tablo support has stated that they can’t commit to a timeline for repair. This product (and the 4-tuner version of the product) should be removed from the Amazon listings until this issue is resolved, as the product description misrepresents the product capabilities.

We can get this resolved if we collectively act.

So, extending the program before the game worked? I had the same problem last night. It kept telling me to update my guide, but after multiple tries with no success I gave up. Never thought of extending the previous show.

yep.

just submitted mine on amazon.

I’m not sure how trying to put them out of business is going to help us. Frankly, we probably need more people to buy tablos to give them more money so they can hire more people, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen.

I’d be careful about what actions i took now when i’m in a state of anger.

they know this has made many customers unhappy

maybe antenna man in his forthcoming video will have some insight into making constructive changes

I think I agree, @Witwil. I’ve seen the Tablo advertised a lot on Social Media and on CBS Saturday and they’re actively looking for customers. I just hope it leads to productive/constructive changes in the device, the biggest single issue (now) being the Guide and second being the mandatory Internet connection to function.

Fix what’s broken and then remove the dependency on Internet so the device can live and work autonomously for the user.
