Plex Plugin 2.0 Beta is Ready

update:  I sat down at PC and loaded Plex app but this time manually entered IP address of Tablo and I can now stream recordings.

Posted in the other thread on the released app about not being able to load recordings. Slightly different errors in this beta but seeing the same issues.

@jerz it loads 100 recordings each time, so if you have 1000 recordings you have to click 10 times

I’m still getting the same message and nothing at all loads.  Nothing on the computer that the plex server resides or the Amazon Fire TV.

@iamxero I’ll take a look tonight at where your hitting errors and see if I can’t add some code to work around them.

@Davidvr thanks for all your work on this plugin.  Some testing results:

When using the Plex web client:

  • live TV works as expected, playing back just fine.
  • Movies work as expected, playing back just fine.
  • TV Shows are sorted into folders.  Clicking on any folder brings up a “This Channel is not responding” message.  Even shows that were a special, and only had 1 episode exhibit this behavior.  No show listing is ever shown, it is as if it can’t find any shows in the folder
  • Sports are not sorted into any folders, this allows them to work just fine.  I’m just curious if they could be, since I have several games of the same sport.  But without folders they do work.
  • Recent recordings work, and seem to list all shows, and the shows do play back just fine.

Plex App on Samsung Blu-Ray player.

  • Live TV just shows the spinning icon whenever a Live TV show is selected.  Waiting minutes never started a show.
  • Movies play back just fine
  • TV shows can view the folder lists however selecting any of them generates a “Can’t connect to the selected server or the content is no longer available” error
  • Sports and Recent Recordings play back just fine

Plex App on Android tablet.

  • Live TV throws the following error: "An error occurred while attempting to navigate to the selected item. It appears that the associated server is no longer accessible."
  • Movies: Same error as above
  • TV Shows:  Directory listings appear, but selecting any directory gives a “This directory appears to be empty” error
  • Sports and Recent Recordings also throw the “An error occurred while attempting to navigate to the selected item.
It appears that the associated server is no longer accessible.” error

I can pass along any logs, provided you give me a hint as to where to find the logs you’re looking for.

David! Thank you so much I really appreciate the work you did for this plugin. If I can provide anything let me know.

Does “update” on Plex get the new one, or should I delete what I have an download from the link above?

@oldmike, the new version has to be downloaded and installed manually while it is in beta

Got it; thanks Dave.

Is there a newer beta version

@Davidvr The channel gets stuck on this error message: “Recordings are still syncing please continue to click here until sync finishes Last Recording was 18012”.

Here’s one of the log files for this channel:

That log looks fine to me.  i don’t see anything jumping out.  The channel will take a bit to process recordings the first time as it is pulling down recordings and creating local plex cache of it.  The idea behind this is that while you invest a bit of time upfront, each subsequent call will simply be an update rather than a re pull ----  keep clicking the click here to refresh… itll go away when done.

@Davidvr, on top of allowing individual Tablo also include which Tablo a show comes from?

@Davidvr - been playing with this on my linux server. Is it normal for ‘shows’ to only show recordings? I actually get this with both the beta 2.0 and the old version of the tablo plex channel. On the tablo itself, ‘shows’ lists all shows in the guide cache.

Maybe it’s intended because the guide isn’t stored by Plex? …but wanted to check.

Mike

Here is Beta2 : should Be faster stronger etc, https://www.dropbox.com/s/d2lpv7m4gbwlj4r/tablobeta.bundle.zip?dl=0

@Mi keNE Yes the plex plugin only shows recordings, under shows are all the recorded shows.

It looks like whatever was wrong with my Tablo is now fixed (not sure if Tablo Support went in after hours or it was the latest update that fixed it) and the shows popped up very quickly…  I’ll do some testing.  :D

@Davidvr:  Still having trouble with Beta Tablo plug-in and not sure why.  With Beta 2.0, accessing plex via web app in browser, Tablo channel seems to working.  IP address and Port both left at default 0 and 0.  With Beta 2.01,  connecting to Tablo channel in Plex via web browser, I’m getting "this channel is not responding"

With regards to IP address and port, do you advise using these and if so do you enter the IP address of the Tablo and is this required?   What do you enter for port number?

@PiX64 This 2nd beta works for me.

@Davidvr Would you please consider adding support for watching manual-recordings?

@Davidvr - I’ve been playing with the new beta (and the older beta), and for some reason I can’t get live video from the Tablo to work.  I’m running the beta on an Ubuntu Trusty install of Plex, with my Sony SMP-N200 players as DLNA clients.  If I install the ‘released’ version of the Tablo channel right along side the beta version, the released version works, and the beta version does not.   I just get ‘there is no playable file’.    Strangely enough, recordings seem to work with the beta version.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?
Thanks,
Mike
