NEW - Tablo PREVIEW App Update (v. 1.7.2)

I do know how to sideload apps. I did DL Tablo Preview 1.7 [Thanks] and got the resume feature back. Unfortunately it automatically updated shortly after the re-install of 1.7. So now back to 1.7.2 and no resume. Any hints as to how to prevent auto-update for Tablo Preview until the new version has been fixed?

Glad to hear it. However, I generally try not to assume people have prerequisite knowledge/skills and who knows how many other people want to know the same answer and what the extent of their relevant knowledge might be. Even among OTA DVR owners, there is quite a range.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about auto-update getting in the way here. I don’t have an AndroidTV device myself, but it seems you can disable auto-update for specific apps, or all apps, via the Google Play Store.


Sorry for the late reply. Thanks Joltarin and others for the tip/reminder to turn off auto updates. I did not think it would be needed to turn off auto-update in Play Store since I didn’t download V1.7 from there but the the turn-off did work for the Android TV devices. So far it has not updated on Fire devices after a 2nd reinstall of V1.7. I’m still hoping that the Tablo group submits a fix so we don’t need to worry about the resume problem and Preview can be used without a mouse. Thanks again.

Hoping for a fix for this Tablo! Super annoying to have to keep going back to the start when watching a recording through my Firestick.

I don’t have a problem with the original app on my fire tv stick.

I reloaded the preview app, and am still have problems with the resume feature on a partially watched recording; it still starts from the beginning! I have a Sony tv that I bought last year.

What do I do now, any suggestions?

Until they fix it, install and use the OG Tablo app (that is NOT the Preview app).

OK, thanks for the suggestion! I’ll give it a try. Apparently, there’s no urgency to fix this anyway!

It’s probably called the Preview app for a reason. And there is an alternative.

New to Forum. Currently running Tablo Lite (2 tuner) with 1TG hard drive, Preview 1.7.2 with Fire TV (box, not the Stick). Now when a recording ends, the Tablo shuts down. This never happened before but I don’t know what previous software version(s) I was using or when it may have updated for that matter. It appears by reading other posts that this is a known software issue. However, I can’t be sure of this. Are other of you experiencing the same issue? If it is a known software issue, it would speak highly of Tablo if they acknowledged the issue ending needless wondering on our part what might be wrong now (ie. new signal issue, setting change, new recording conflict, etc) and, better yet, an approximate fix date. I dare say if this is indeed a software issue, someone better test the next release first!

Any idea when the problem with the resume feature will be resolved?

I don’t have a specific ETA but I know that the issue has been fixed by the dev team. The update will need to be cleared by QA & the beta team before it’s pushed live though.

Hello! I am a longtime Tablo user currently using the Tablo preview app on my FireTV stick. Just recently, I have noticed that if I shut off a recording in the middle of watching it, when I come back later to watch the rest it starts over at the beginning. My progress is not saved. When I first select the recording it will say how many minutes are still unwatched (e.g. 42 minutes of one hour) as if it had saved my place, but when I click on “watch” it restarts at the beginning every time. Anyone else have this problem?

That sounds like the preview app v1.7.2 bug. I’m sure there are a few posts in the v1.7.2 thread.

You have to use the original app until it’s fixed

Hm. I actually like the original app guide format better and find that it loads better, but I had to switch to the Preview app months ago because of a very annoying bug in the original app. But, I thought, perhaps they have fixed that bug by now. So, I just pulled up the original app and saw that there was an update to download that was supposed to fix bugs. And I thought, Great! Surely that means the bug in the original app will be fixed. So, I tried it out, and it is not fixed. I posted about that bug here, too, and was told “use the Preview app” so that’s what I’ve been doing even though I don’t like it as well. Now both apps have a really annoying bug. Sigh! I can put up with the minor bugs (not even gonna describe those). But its hard to decide which major bug I hate less: always having to search for my spot when I return to finish watching a recording (preview) or having the sound track continue playing for 3-4 seconds every time I pause a recording even though the picture freezes instantly and then when restarting having the picture resume in a spot 3-4 seconds later than where I paused it (original). Ugh.

I need an update. I finally installed the non preview version on my shield. No commercial skip but at least I can pause and resume.

I actually didn’t notice the resume issue so much as that if I went out of Tablo Preview App and went back in it took at least 5 minutes to load and if I let it sit, it reverts back to Fire main page to have to start all over again…and that’s still happening. Amazon Fire 4K Stick. Preview App was 1.7.2, but is now 1.7.4 and still having this issue. Why is it not loading like before?
