Love Tablo Connect Lifetime - Please Bring to 4th Gen App

I have been a longtime Table user and purchased the Lifetime Tablo Connect feature which allows you to stream and view your Tablo on your home network outside of your home on your Phone or other device. This is my most used feature and we love it and use it all the time. I understand that the new 4th Gen app does not support this, and that once the old app leaves the app store we will not be able to use this feature ever again if we get a new phone or the old legacy app breaks. PLEASE Bring this feature that many of us paid A LOT OF MONEY for on the promise that this was a lifetime feature, and this is our most used feature.

Yeah, just like those playstation folks thought they were getting something forever. Welcome to “lifetime” as interpreted by “the corporations”. All EULAs could be summarized as: You’re screwed. Now, click ok.

A subscription included a lot more features then remote connect.

How much do you want to pay. Plex just started charging $30 per year in addition to the normal subscription cost.

The in-home only limitation is probably something to do with the need for a constant internet connection. Amazon also harvested your data but without this necessity. If Amazon can make it work, surely Tablo can?

Yes, lifetime of the service. No where did the TOS or EULA claim it was - as long as you live.

When/if the service reaches the end of it’s life, well a lifetime subscription ends.

We are exploring remote access options.

This article explains why the 4th Gen Tablo doesn’t have it yet.

Thanks for the article explaining why this service is not available yet. I really hope that this feature can be added soon to the new app. Transcoding all live TV and recordings in real-time at several different video quality and Bandwidth settings, (like in the legacy Tablo’s) is a must feature… With device hardware becoming more powerful every year I am not sure why new Tablo devices would lack this feature. So yes please add the feature at least to the New app to that legacy Tablo Connect devices can view their stream. I would hope this would not be difficult to just open this port so we could view what our Home Legacy Tablo is already streaming… And Also I think all new Tablos (with way better hardware than the Legacy Tablos) would be equipped real-time transcoding in several different streaming profiles (or just one other one at 480p) which is more than enough for mobile streaming out of the home.

There is no reason this service should reach the “end of its life”, its simply viewing the alreay open port on my home network, so I can view the stream on my Legacy Tablo. This costs Tablo nothing as the data on my phone already pays for viewing it.

Well, it does “cost them” the indirect resource of my.tablotv.com

Maybe to reduce costs to zero remote connect users won’t be able to open tickets against remote connect.

Or if you are the tech type DIY.

Ah, gotcha. The Recast did transcode with varying resolutions so that’s probably why you can do it with the Amazon device and not Tablo.

Personally, it’s not a huge deal for me - I didn’t use it much on the Recast.

I didn’t say it was. I was commenting on:

>PLEASE Bring this feature that many of us paid A LOT OF MONEY for on the promise that this was a lifetime feature

There is no promise it will last for your personal lifetime. If/when the service reaches EOL, you’ve gotten your money’s worth for what you perceived as “promised”.

It simply contacts https://api.tablotv.com/assocserver/getipinfo/ to get the open ports. Although it may be possible there is no cost associated with maintaining a server and storage, it’s very unlikely it cost Tablo nothing.
