Portland Oregon area still doesn’t have Metv Toons programming.
I have notified zap2it and Metv itself with no success.
I noticed it does show up on TVGuide (TV Guide, TV Listings, Online Videos, Entertainment News and Celebrity News - TV Guide), so maybe find out where they get their info.
I am having the same issue with MeTV Toons isn’t showing up on my program guide in my area in Western Pennsylvania. For me it is showing a channel called Rewind. I also tried contacting MeTV without success.
So, this is an automated reply that I got when I updated the ticket I filed a couple of months ago-
I understand your frustration with the missing programming information for MeTV Toons (29.8) and THIS (8.5). Our guide data provider has recently become unwilling to work with us to add missing guide data for stations. This has been very frustrating and disappointing for both us and our customers. We are currently exploring other alternatives to ensure that customers have listings for their entire channel lineup.
Maybe contact TVGuide to find out where they get their programing?
I think TV Guide is their own provider. They and Gracenote are the two primary as far as I know.
Interesting. I did a quick Google search. For the 4th Generation Tablos They use Gracenote according to their FAQs. Here is the email to get in touch with them about TV schedules and meta data. gn.tmscheduleATnielsen.com just change AT to @.
“Our guide data provider has recently become unwilling to work with us to add missing guide data for stations.” Wow, how crazy is that? Hope you find a better provider soon.
BTW, my guide in Phoenix does show MeTV Toons, however, the data isn’t accurate, so it’s pretty worthless.
The local Charlotte station added Oxygen, which has Snapped, a true crime show. No programming. I assume the issue is the same with the above stations. My workaround is probably the same as yours. I logon to the Oxygen website, look to see when Snapped is OTA and set a manual record. Works, but…
I was browsing my Legacy 2 Tuner Tablo and I noticed that MeTVToons was show up even though the channel said REWIND in the Guide but it was showing toons. So I decided to look on the 4th Gen Tablo and lo and behold MeTVToons was showing up in the Guide info.
In Sacramento the guide on my TV is several hours off. Zap 2 it shows the correct shows at the correct time, on the wrong channel.
On the Legacy, the only way to update the guide name is to do a rescan.
@andyross Yeah I figured that would be the fix for the Legacy one. I will do a rescan of the channels at a later time.
It’s a new year, and still no improvement on the guide programming.
@TabloTV , Is there any progress on getting this fixed? It is really frustrating having a bunch of empty channels and now I am getting channels with the wrong info.
Agree, I submitted a ticket a few weeks ago to correct some guide information and got an almost immediate reply that they’re not doing guide fixes because their partner isn’t responsive to feedback any longer (or something to that effect)
They have been saying for months that they wanted to change guide providers, but nothing has happened. I have to wonder if they are locked into some sort of contract with them…
I have a theory. The cable and satellite companies are paying guide providers to mess up the guides used by “cord cutting” companies like Tablo to cause frustration and drive users to “ reconnect the cord”.
It seems to me (IANAL), that if there is a contract to supply programming info and the provider refuses to update when things change it would be a breach of contract.
MeTV Toons on legacy OG Tablo 2 tuner
As stations “change” around, the guide provider might not have updated info for a particular zipcode (?) Maybe that is the problem (?) But, in the past, I know old-Tablo was pretty responsive in leaning on the EPG provider to get things straightened out. I think at one point there was a “path” created especially for this type of support request, but regardless, have you tried to reach out to Tablo support?
If you look up in the thread, you’ll see who I’ve contacted regarding this.
As an addendum, suddenly, METV Toons programming is now showing up on my 4th gen, but I can’t schedule any recordings, but on my legacy, there is still nothing.
However, none of the other channels without programming are showing anything yet.
@TabloTV, is this something you did or did I just get lucky?
We will not confirm or deny that we are behind the sudden appearance of guide data.
However, hitting ‘update guide’ will hopefully allow you to start scheduling recordings.
For me and my legacy Tablo, programming shows up for MeTV Toons but it has the wrong times, making the guide useless. My ticket to have it corrected was immediately closed due to the unresponsive guide provider.
Here was the response:
Unfortunately, our guide data provider has recently become unwilling to work with us to add or correct guide data for stations. We are currently exploring other alternatives to ensure accurate guide data for our customers.
In the meantime, you can try performing a channel scan to see if it resolves the issue. If the problem persists, please let us know.
