62 is broadcast on 13 which is also VHF. Maybe being closer to it let’s it come in with your antenna.
7 is a VHF station and an antenna designed for both VHF and UHF such as Winegard FL5500A which is what I have. I live in 78758 close to the YMCA on Rundberg.
Your 46 and 18 channels are both PBS and if you record a show, it might record twice (once each channel)
Just as additional background info, I live in S. Austin (nearest landmark Central Market Westgate) within 20mi of Austin’s antenna farm. I use antennas direct Clearstream 4 in my attic with a winegard pre-amp. The CS4 does okay with UHF but I needed to add a VHF antenna retrofit kit to reliably get channel 7’s sub channels 7.2, 7.3, 7.4. We are heavy users of 7.2 and 7.4. Also, channel 62 is not on the same direct azimuth so its performance has been mediocre - receivable 95% of the time. I am not patient enough to use 62 for recording.
Here’s my current active channels. Channel 17 stopped broadcasting. Hopefully it’ll be back with some English stations. I eliminated all Spanish and religious stations.
@Spyder I see you’re near Lakeline. If you ever want to meet in person, just post here. @js98 and I have met a couple of times. I don’t have a car, so it would need somewhere I can get to by Capital Metro. I do go to the Barnes and Nobel out by where you live, because it is closer to the bus stop than the one at the Arborioum, I also ride the bus to Southpark Meadows and Westgate. I just use tge Capital Metro app on my phone. We usually meet on Saturday mornings.
Thanks for the info all.
I was hoping for a single great antenna solution for both UHF and VHF.
CS has great deal of options, might go that way. Wonder about the Mohu Sky.
I wonder if I could lay my antenna ontop of back side of roof for better reception for CS or Mohu, I don’t have any neighbors or street behind me so nobody will complain or spot me. I have heard the attic cuts the signal about 50%. I have soft shingles, wood with sheet of aluminum backing.
So, when I run my Tablo Tuner search for stations it show 93 available stations. But, only grabs those 25 I listed at the moment.
If I were to spend $100+ on an premium antenna I would hope to at least get 50 of those stations.
I usually watch English stations, but have lots of visitors from Mexico so Spanish stations are also great.
Thanks for the info.
Kinda got my hands full with newborn, new house, new job. I been told I will be able to go outside in about 18yrs or so.
Sorry, to hear you don’t have a car that is tough in Texas. Austin is still developing the public transit infrastructure. Kinda tough without a car.
Not meant to sound mean, But, what yall talk about the tablo and antenna seems like a limited topic?
Oh, have you guys tested the remote viewing of tablo from different country? Does it work?
My firm flys us to Philippines during last quarter of the year, it like 3 weeks without football or fall premiers.
I’ve tested remote Tablo in other city’s, and states and it works. Assume it will also work in other country as long as you have Internet. Of course not with Roku.
We discuss streaming sites in new addition to Tablo. See some of the sites above. Pluto TV and CBSN for example. @js98 has see the flashing green on S7 and the work around. Also Tablo on Android N beta.
Thanks for the info. I test remote viewing around town, seems pretty good.
Update***
Found old rabbit ears that never used likely 10yrs old. Now Rabbit ears and free tablo antenna with some old coax splitter used to merge signals has given me this new list. I now have 33 channels, not bad for it all being free stuff.
CH42 no longer comes in. Not on tablo not on my other three TV. It has been working perfectly for months and suddenly the channel scan can’t pick it up at all. I live in S Austin and I get 29 channels except for 42. Very odd any thoughts? Drive me crazy as to why.
OK I finally found a search on Google well not me my wife found it she’s a genius that says the local CBS station transmitter is down this weekend thank goodness I was going crazy
I live caddy corner to Metro Station on Lakeline Blvd.
Neighborhood is called Northwoods “The Manors”
Antenna is the free one Tablo sent, it is in my attic on second story home.
Wonder what stations I would get if, I bought a real antenna like clearstream.
I did notice when recording Olympics sometimes using all four tuners at the same time for hours, it would freeze up and I would have to reboot. I keep the house around 74 degrees.
Also, 23-1 and 23-2 does not have guide info, don’t know why, wonder who I complain about that.
If you have TW (Spectrum) as your internet provider, you might think about upgrading your cable modem. I just swapped my Zoom 5341J out and the SB6190 supports up to 32 bonded channels (which my part of Austin is using 24). If your cable modem doesn’t have them, they can’t be used.
I’m new to this and about to ditch Time Warner. I’ve been testing PlayStation Vue on a Roku 2 and I’m pretty happy. I need to pick a way to get local channels and found Tablo. Tablo looks very interesting so I’m probably going that direction.
My questions are:
What antenna should I buy? I live east of Austin (Cedar Creek) 25 miles from most of the local towers. My house has a radiant barrier in the attic and I noticed some comments that this could interfere with an antenna.
Do I need an amplifier. We have 4 - TV’s but normally use 2. The other 2 TVs are upstairs and only used when my children (and kids) are home.
External Hard Drives for the Tablo - Any recommended brands? Brands to stay away from?
Roku vs Amazon Fire Stick. I purchased the Roku 2 to test Playstation Vue. It also works with the Fire Stick. Does anyone have experience with both? Is one better?
Since I’m new at this - I’m sure there are questions that I don’t know to ask. Any and all advice is appreciated.
I live by the HEB at N Lamar and Rumdberg. I use an indoor antenna, Winegard FL6500A.
Hard drive, I have Seagate Expansion 5 TB.
What router do you have? Tablo works best with a good router. Hardwired is best, but I do use mine wireless. ROKU 4 Supports 802.11 AC and my router provides it.
Thank you very much for the reply and the information. Not at home at the moment so I don’t have my router info. I have an Ethernet connection (wired).at the 2 main TV’s
That’s a nice looking outdoor/indoor antenna. I think I still have connections on my roof from an old satellite connection. I’ll take a look at it tonight.
