Just to clarify, the channels in question FAIL when viewing on an Apple TV device, but work when viewing on a Fire device…? That suggests that the problem is likely not the firmware update, which impacts the ‘puck’ but rather something on the Apple TV device.
I don’t use Apple. Did they have a recent OS update, or was the Tablo app or Apple TV recently updated? Also, (and forgive me if you already mentioned this) did you try clearing the cache on the Apple TV device? I think that on Apple that involves more than a simple reboot.
Well, worst case scenario is get a couple of firesticks for $20 and use those. Not your “preferred” platform but it works and will lower your blood pressure!
Sorry, just noticed this post, latest version of Apple’s software came out in September, I believe. That covered all their devices..
Yes, whenever a problem crops up I always do the standard troubleshooting prior (including cache clearing) prior to making any calls to Customer Service, which I dread doing.
I agree with this comment. Very unlikely the issue is the actual firmware update itself unless it’s something isolated to only Apple devices as far as connected devices.
You’ll discover here that it’s always the other guys fault. Or your fault. It can’t be the firmware update. Or the Tablo device in any way. Coincidences abound here.
I’m starting to sense that. And not just here..
I recently had another Apple TV issue with audio sync, and I contacted the players involved: DIRECTV, Verizon and Apple. Each one blamed the other.. And the problem hasn’t been resolved yet.
But once again, this problem is unique to Apple TV. The same problem does NOT occur on Fire OS. Ugh, I really don’t want to migrate to Fire OS.
It’s not that bad. I have two streamers on my TV - a Firestick and an Onn 4k. I use the Firestick for most things (Recast, some apps) just because I’m used to it but I use the Onn for those apps that Amazon has banned. You could use your apple TV for everything else and the FireTV for Tablo?
Beating the system sometimes takes desperate measures!!!
It really is a question of what you’re used to. I feel the same way about using Windows as I do about using Fire OS. If I can avoid it, I do so..
I recently removed my Amazon Recast from the FireStick since it’s gotten so buggy after Amazon decided to stop supporting it, so there’s even less of a reason for me to log onto the FireStick.
But I will tell you, this Apple ‘fanboy’ is getting very concerned about all the issues I’m having on Apple TV that I do NOT have on Fire TV ( DirecTV audio sync issues, HBO Max commercial insertion issues, now Tablo playback issues)
But I don’t know who’s at fault. Is that Apple? Or is it the software developers who don’t pay attention to the relatively small user base that is Apple TV??
I don’t know, but I’m holding anll options.open for 2026.
Thanks for your input though. And sorry if I got a tad defensive earlier today.
I’ll be the first to admit, I didn’t offer anything of value to the discussion. Just sharing an observation with you. Good luck with resolving the issue!
Oh, those of us that have been around a while won’t deny it can’t be the firmware update. But because of our experience with Tablo firmware updates over the years we also don’t jump to conclusions.
Having said that, I think we all understand the frustration when problems occur, someone even asked if the post was more about venting or seeking assistance.
However, spamming the same thing in multiple posts around the community doesn’t accomplish much productive assistance.
Well, unless you have another account you have only been on this community for 5 months.
Just suggesting that while things can be frustrating coming in hot and posting the same thing in multiple posts probably isn’t the most effective use of your frustration when you will find over time there are plenty of us willing to help if we can while you are waiting for @TabloSupport to see your initial frustration post and get involved.
It seems like much longer than 5 months?? Could be right. But I’ve owned the 4th gen Tablo since it hit the market. I get frustrated and make posts that aren’t helpful. My apologies to everybody. I’ll hold my tongue.
I got it, thanks. I think I posted numerous times because I didn’t see even an acknowledgment from @TabloSupport, so I figured let me repost…maybe Tablo would respond this time.
As I said earlier, I clearly didn’t understand the process and probably still don’t. Maybe you can help with that. Does Tablo respond to all posts? Are responses usually posted same day? same week? same month? When can I assume my post has gone unseen and will probably require a repost to be seen?
