I just checked again and it’s connected now. Took a long time.
Yes, I have brought this up before as well. I am an electronics engineer and there is absolutely no reason the Tablo needs an internet connection to function. It doesn’t even need guide data. You should just be able to old school tune to a channel by number if there is no guide data and Tablo servers are down. Inexcusable design choice. Seriously contemplating getting some of my other engineer buddies together and working on a simple but FUNCTIONAL competing device. Tablo is junk.
Sadly, you did the factory reset before we knew there was a larger problem than just your device.
You’ll probably be stuck on that setup page until their servers are back up.
Same here in Oregon, no Home or Live, however I can still see and play yesterdays recordings
I have an older DVR device by TERK that I disconnected due to no wifi broadcasting to TV’s throughout the house. It needed no internet connection to record channels and always works to watch and record shows.
I will likely hook it back up and trash this new Tablo since it requires Tablo servers to even allow you to watch OTA TV. If Tablo can’t keep their servers online the device is useless and support sucks.
You would think they would spend money on reliable servers and support instead of constant commercials to sell more units which then fail to function.
Now you know why the guide is free. EVERYTHING you do is going through their servers to be sold to every marketer and government in the world.
Note to Tablo execs, marketers and bean counters …
You are obviously spending big $ promoting your product. Might be time to look at your server reliability issues? Seems to me the lack thereof is a fast way to kill acceptance of your product. Maybe need to shift some $ over to improvements in this area? I bet there’s a PowerPoint presentation for that. Just sayin’.
And to your coders …
Maybe there should be some firmware logic that looks at the reason for loss of connection, and basically lets the thing operate in “offline mode” when it detects that the Tablo servers are down? Hell, I can just switch to the good old fashioned TV tuner and achieve that. No Tablo required.
Jeez. How hard is this stuff?
Looks like the servers are back
and recording in process is working.
That lasted five minutes
We’ve been out since at least 6am CDT today. Just sits at the Tablo “launch” screen, both on mobile and the Roku app.
We’re new users and this is not a good look on top of the myriad other issues we’ve had since we got this thing a few days ago.
This seems to be a recurring problem. It would be nice if you could double-check on “Down Detector”
@TabloTV , @TabloSupport , @TabloCEO @TabloEngineering
You need to do better. Would love to see an official company response later outlining the lessons learned from these outages and the steps they have implemented to improve the experience in the future.
Mine is sort of working again. I can access recordings, which I couldn’t do before, and watch some live TV. However, the guide is only loading in the first 4 channels in the list.
Again, I don’t see why I need Tablo’s servers to be able to access live TV for channels it (supposedly) already downloaded 2 weeks worth of data for. Part of the reason I chose Tablo was because I assumed the 2 weeks worth of guide would see me through any outages.
Hi folks -
There is indeed an issue.
We’re investigating now and will be working to provide better and more timely details about server status in the future.
Stay tuned for more details and apologies for the inconvenience.
Is that TabloTV logging in on a weekend?
Glad to see they’re on top of it, though.
Not the best of answers. Servers have been increasingly spotty as Tablo experiences uncontrolled growth.
Reading the forum large numbers of us have been resetting and restarting with mixed results based on previous lock up and failures listed throughout the forum. IF IT’S BROKE … FIX IT. I would also suggest you get listed on DownDetector. The loyal base on the forum is starting to become PO’d.
Seriously. Just got this thing Friday, April 5th.
I’ve experienced pretty much every glitch described in the userspace.
Setup was easy enough, but wow, less than 48hours into being a Tablow “owner” and I am pretty sure I am the one getting “owned”.
28 days to return to bestbuy… Get it together Tablo!
Tablo will not load this morning. Of course, @TabloSupport only works M-F. What the hell is wrong with it now???
