Tablo roku issues resolved?

Thinking of replacing my older Tivo with Tablo. Have the issues from in late 2024 early 2025 been resolved? thanks brian

Everyone seems to have different experience with TabloTV.
#1 Need a solid OTA Antenna signal.
#2 Need a above average WIFI or CAT 6 wiring for the Tablo to communicate with devices in your dwelling.
#3 Have someone in your home be a little techy :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
#4 A little sense of humor as all this tech has minor issues.

Now most of the major issues have been ironed out but with Roku constantly updated their software TabloTV as is working with a moving target. I had a lower end Roku stick and didn’t work. Got a Roku Ultra with WIFI 6, more memory, etc and TabloTV works.
I highly recommend the Ultra’s.
Amazing Race which my wife and I have been watching for years is one I have a digital converter box and record the show just in case TabloTV has a hiccup. I do this because we don’t have Paramount Plus to watch the next day.

I keep saying you pick your poison and make peace with it. HomerunHD units has issues
to plus you have a subscription fee. Zapperbox new box will be $300 and $50 a year for the TV guide. I know it is ATSC 3.0 but still to me that is costly.

I will say I wish Tablo had manual recording by time slot just in case the guide data is wrong and had remote access to unit to set up recording shows if you forget to do it while at home. But all in all my unit with new Roku Ultra is nice. I like Roku interface better than FireTV operating system.

I use Tablo exclusively with Roku devices. Working great now. See below…

I also still use a Tivo and I have noticed that Tablo can’t or won’t correct guide changes. Tivo corrects guide changes when Tablo won’t. Tablo says they can’t correct the changes but then why can Tivo do it. You can’t record anything or put a channel in your Favorites even if you can watch the channel with Tablo if there’s no program info in the guide.

Ed, thanks. I have a Roku Ultra, yamaha receiver and samsung TV and use a Logitech harmony touch remote. I will hard wire this to the Roku. My other TV is in the bedroom and we wouldn’t use the tablo from there. the things we watch on broadcast we watch together in the main room. I’m a lot more techy than i want to be for a 69 year old. thanks. brian

Yes, the 4th Gen Tablo has had its problems. And, yes, you will find a lot of people on here complaining about it. But, in my experience it works quite well especially considering the price.

The major outage late in 2024 was only for Roku users and that was because Rolu pushed out an update that broke the function of Tablo app on many older Roku devices. It did take some time to fix that one. There was also a problem in August that took a while to straighten out.

I have found that Tablo tries to constantly improve the device and keep it running smoothly. Is it flawless, no? But, at the price-point, and with no monthly fees, I am pretty happy. In general I have found its up-vs-down time to be better than most cable or satellite services. Last I checked Tablo has saved me a bit over $2000.00 and that is after buying the device, a good antenna, and an external harddrive.

To get the most out of it, make sure you have a good quality antenna that it appropriate for your situation (distance from towers, terrain, tree coverage). It sounds like you are already running off an antenna and have been for a while. Is that correct? Also, make sure your home network is up to snuff. Ethernet is generally better, especially between the Tablo device and your router, but WiFi is often good enough if the devices get good signal. The people that complain about Tablo the loudest have almost always failed one or both of these.
