I’ve had a Tablo for about a year now. The early days were were a bit rough with buggy Samsung TV client and dicey hub firmware updates. I almost gave up on Tablo but stayed with it.
I can say the system has dramatically improved through 2025. I now have no real issues to complain about currently. I ended up standardizing on Roku devices at each TV due to the Samsung client being so poor. Three of the 5 Rokus are Ethernet connected to avoid WiFi drama. I understand the Samsung client may be improved now, but now that I have made the Roku investment I am not going back.
These forums tend to focus on the complaints and problems but I’d like to note my experience which is now great.
I have had a similar experience. I have been using Tablo for a little over a year now and I am very happy with its functionality. Sure, there is the occasional hiccup, but its “up time” vs “down time” is better than any satellite or cable service I have had.
You do have to put in the work to get your antenna squared away and your home network up to snuff. This is were I find that most new user have trouble and get frustrated.
I will admit that my first one burned out after about a year, but to Tablo’s credit they made good on it and sent me a new one.
Gen 4 2 tuner here… I bought mine Dec 2023… Almost 2 year. Close. The first 2 months were brutal. My wife almost had me return the unit. But since about Feb-March of 2024, it has been fairly solid. I’m happy with the product!
Gen 4 4 tuner for me. I am like @KimchiGUN in that I got mine in Dec 2023 so almost 2 years ago. I have had very little trouble with mine after I got the right antenna placement after about 2 weeks. Yes, there have been some glitches (some huge) but they haven’t affected me much, even as a Roku user. The big Roku issue took out 3 of my 4 Roku devices but my main one (Roku Soundbar) didn’t have any issue so I was thankful about that. I think the product is great and recommend it all the time.
It would be even better if they could correct guide issues. I reported two channels with “Programming not Available” a month ago and they have not been corrected.
p.s. Just had an internet outage that the provider is going to take two days to fix!!! Cheers to Tablo for offline mode so at least we can watch TV during this latest Xfinity fiasco.
After Frankenstein fell into the icy waters, I was able to successfully install it in only three tries. Of course I could have read the instructions but I’m smarter than that.
A new Tablo TV owner. And I have to say that it’s much better than I expected.
I had moved to internet to cut the cable, but then the promise of a price effective package with live channels eventually became ridiculous in pricing. YouTubeTV, Hulu+ Live, Sling, I’d tried them all. But the prices just continued to increase annually.
Finally went back to seeing what was possible via OTA and found recommendations for the 4th Gen Tablo TV. I record a lot of shows on different channels and my family likes to watch different content so went with the 4 tuner version. Wow, the quality of the video is shocking, I was not aware of how much compression Hulu+ Live had applied to my local stations. It wasn’t bad, but seeing it without any compression I can clearly see the difference.
Based on the forums, I did the following to ensure a great experience with crystal clear reception.
Connected by ethernet directly to my WiFi mesh router for consistent connection. TV’s are WiFi, but the recommendation is that the Tablo TV should be ethernet if possible.
Used an LTE/5G filter for the included Tablo TV antenna that came in the bundle. I’m just a few blocks away from a 5G tower and would get intermittent pixelation and other signal issues prior to the filter being installed.
Found a north facing window (Tablo app showed North was best for my region with the broadcast towers) that was clear of a neighbors very large fir tree.
The Roku app 1.20 is working very well. I have several TVs in the home. My primary TV is a Samsung UN75NU8000 with a Roku 9102R Streambar that works very well. The others are TCL Roku TVs that were on black friday specials.
All appear to be working very well.
Have an NetGear Orbi 6 setup (753 on firmware V7.2.7.15_5.1.16)
This is about where we are. Your system sounds like our setup with Orbi 750 with 3 satellites, same firmware. We use FireTV Stick 4k Max or Roku Ultra 4850. All working well.
FYI…just found this out yesterday - you can check the Orbi system memory and cpu utilization with this link.
