Tablo Roku App (4th Gen) Update (v. 1.0.0 & 1.0.1)

Hi @p101 ,

We have a fix in the works. Just waiting on Roku to approve it.

Moving this topic to our Roku 1.0.0 update thread.

Hope this doesn’t take forever. I have 6 Roku’s. They all worked with Tablo except the Ultra 4850X. I decided to remove the app on the 4850X, reboot and reinstall it. Little did I know that this uninstalled it on all my Roku’s. Now after getting reinstalled, none of my Roku’s work. They all just stay on the screen with the message “Connecting to your Tablo…”. I can still connect from my iPhone but that doesn’t do me a lot of good :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Same! Support keeps telling me they’re working on it. I have Roku TVs and it’s not working. Sadly it worked perfectly until the update this week.

Today is day 5 of me seeing nothing but “connecting to your Tablo”.

Just an FYI, I let this soak into my network for a few days… 5 (cheap) Phillips Roku TVs, 1 TLC Roku TV, and 1 Roku Ultra… They all work without a hitch.

with the few bugs like FF thumbnails… which I miss, my stuff is operational like before. My wife still can watch her shows, IF she wasnt, the dragon would have been unleashed. LOL.

Same here. We swapped out two Roku Ultras for onn 4k pros months ago and love them. Moved the Rokus to TVs we hardly ever use. Yesterday my wife watched all her judge shows on the kitchen TV with one of those Rokus. It performed flawlessly well except for the small single FF thumbnails. It is a 19" Vizio TV.

Tablo worked fine with new update until this morning. I have a Roku Express 4K. Tablo works through the phone app just fine. Rebooted Tablo and reinstalled Tablo Roku App. Just gets stuck on “connecting to your tablo”.

I’m glad your devices are all working as I can understand keeping the wife happy.
Unfortunately all but one of my devices still don’t connect.

I noticed the Roku app worked fine till I wanted to watch a series with 280 episodes. Then the problems started.

Overall, the 1.0 update has worked for me. However, like many others, I would prefer the return of the “film strip” timeline.

I contacted support, and they gave me a link to a pre-release Roku version that will fix the problem. I installed it, and the “Connecting to Tablo” issue went away. It did seem to have more buffering than we normally see, but at least the interface loads now.

Open a ticket with support. They gave me access yesterday to a beta version of the Roku app that fixes the issue. It worked for me.

One thing I’ve noticed on my own Roku devices is that more often than not, when fast forwarding past commercials I press the Pause/Play button on the remote to pick up the program. A lot of the time playback seems just “stuck”. Pressing Play does nothing. I can only get playback to resume if I either fast forward or rewind a smidge, then playback resumes.

I opened a ticket on April 8th. They had me put the unit in “remote access mode”. It was in that mode for 36 hours. I requested an update 2 or 3 times but no response…just the announcement on here that they are working on a “hot fix”.

And your point is?. Your problem seems to have been released into the roku channel system. Beta would normally be for possible fixes beyond that connection problem.

I have a ticket open. They haven’t sent me a link to the beta or any further response other than they are working on a fix.

I would rather not have a beta though. I don’t want to be a beta tester.

beta’s can be full of all kinds of unseen side affects. I don’t see the majority of gen 4 users prepared for that.

I agree on that statement. I have a Beta tester throughout the years on several music related software items and it can be really time consuming. Maybe have a late Beta program team two set up for a few more folks to try out the software beyond the Beta one team. I’m old now and I can tell you I don’t really want to be a Beta tester anymore .

Unfortunately the update wasn’t compatible with my Roku TV version. Won’t connect with my Roku anymore. As usual customer service was completely unhelpful!

Have no faith in tablo coming up with a quick fix so I broke down and bought a fire stick.

This is my first post. I hope it’s in the right place. Having trouble maneuvering this app.

I feel like I’ve stepped into the twilight zone. Just bought gen 4 dual tuners 3-29, day or so later set up on new Roku tv (January purchase) all firmware recent both devices. Set up on wifi network. IOS 18.3.2
Worked until you recorded or try playback, or if live, pause then FF thru commercial or backup to see what you missed, from there on kicked to program grid, resume play 10-15 seconds kicked to grid again for the rest of the show!

Record 1hr show and record second 1/2 hour midway through 1st recording, first recording good, second recording kick to grid syndrome. Odd thing is app on phone played 2nd recording just fine.

I suspected slow internet, decided to go to Ethernet setup. Big mistake. Now Roku can’t connect. Put it back to wifi, no joy. Reset router, Tablo device, reinstalled app on tv, had wife install app on her phone as if a new setup still Roku says no and app connects from phone to device.

Pulling hair out. About to hard reset Tablo device if I find out how. It’s the only thing that hasn’t been hard rest. Did quick rested and unplug reset.

Really need to cut the cord. We were so close but it’s getting farther out of reach.

Any assistance or thoughts would be appreciated.
