Tablo keeps going back to TV main screen

It was working fine until a couple of days ago. Now I click Tablo, it loads and about 5 seconds later it just kicks me back to the TV main screen.

Sometimes it lets me stay in long enough to choose Live TV. The grid starts to load and then boots me out.

I reset the Tablo, it didn’t help. At this point I’m thinking the Tablo has just gone bad.

Same problem on Roku here. Happened every time since Wednesday on both a Roku streaming stick plus and a TCL tv running Roku. I do also have a fire stick and the android app and haven’t had any problems recording, accessing recording or live TV on either of those.

Just a suggestion… It helps if you include what streaming platform or smart TV you are using.

I know you said that you restarted the Tablo, which is a good idea, but let me add to that you should try rebooting all three, the Tablo, your streaming device, and your router. Clearing the cache can help, too. On some streaming devices, simply rebooting the device will clear the cache, but not all. Check here for your device.

I had the same issue with Tablo Gen 4 on my Sony Bravia Android TV (Android 9). It would keep booting me out, either while selecting a show, or scrolling through the live TV list, or watching a recorded show. Very frustrating. The device worked fine on my Android Phone and on my other TV with a Roku Ultra attached. I think this started happening right after the Android TV Tablo Update (v 1.5?). I tried clearing the cache, deleting data, uninstalling and reinstalling the app and of course turning the Tablo off and on. Anyway, it wasn’t working as it used to and it was very slow and had random kicks. Since I had an Amazon Fire Stick attached to the TV anyway, I uninstalled the App from the Smart TV and Installed it on the Amazon Fire Stick. It now works as expected. I had a feeling that Android 9 is no longer sufficient for the updated app, but I have no info supporting that theory. My Sony TV Operating system is maxed at Android 9 and has limited storage for additional apps, so I don’t really know what’s going on, but my resolution was to use the new viewing platform and now its been working fine.

Hi @TonyRI,

Aftter Android 1.5.0 we discovered an issue with some Android devices: Tablo Amazon Fire TV/Android TV App (4th Gen) Update (v. 1.5.0 - 1.5.2) . Sorry you ran into that.

1.5.2 should resolve the issue.

Thanks for that info! Will try the new update later on today

I have similar issue with Legacy 4-Tuner on ROKU.
After watching a recorded show, normally it goes back to the screen about the show, so you can delete it or whatever.
About 40% of the time, the screen goes black and it gets kicked out of Tablo back to ROKU home screen.

HI @TabloTV

That did the trick! Thanks again! I had thought that I was limited by the Android version on my TV (Android 9), but the Tablo app v1.5.2 for Android TV has fixed the issue that I was facing.

Glad the issue is resolved @TonyRI !

@TabloTV I have still not been able to get the app to load on either rokus in the house. I have a streaming stick+ model 3810X running software 14.1 and a TCL tv model 65R625 running Roku 14.1. On both devices the app attempts to load for about 5 seconds before returning to the Roku home screen. I have restarted both devices and have reinstalled the app on both devices with no change. I have power cycled my router as well.

I have a Fire stick and android device that have been able to run the app flawlessly during this time. My Tablo is connected via Ethernet and connected to a Channel Master antenna. Any advice would be appreciated!

Could the issue be similar to what’s outlined here: Enabling Audio Compatibility Mode for Roku on the 4th Generation Tablo – Tablo ?

If so, Audio Compatibility Mode may help.

@TabloTV I was encountering problems accessing live TV and recordings on my Roku related to this fix a few months back. I did enable Audio Compatibility and changed the audio settings on my Roku to get the app working when the firmware update rolled out at the end of the year.

Now instead of being unable to access live TV or recordings, the app isn’t loading at all on my Roku devices. The Tablo logo and the loading bar-like scroll is all I see before being sent back to the Roku home screen.

I was told I did not post enough details. My apologies.

TV is TCL Model 65Q650G This is a google based TV and I added Tablo from the Play store.

It is not a reception issue. The signal is strong and works well from the antenna. Internet uptime is very good too.

And it works from my google pixel, my wife’s iphone, and all the tablets (IOS and Android) just fine.

It was working fine on the TV too until about 5-6 days ago and then it kicks us out.

My Tablo is Model TF1282B-01-CN I have been able to update to 1.5.2. I have found a way to make it work. Simply turning on the TV and choosing Tablo still causes it keep booting me out. However, If I restart the TV from the TV options menu, or unplug it, my TV loses all the customized settings such as the apps on the main screen, but the apps are still installed. So I navigate to the TV options, choose apps and launch Tablo. Tablo will work until I turn off the TV again. It does not record my selected TV shows though.

The TV is only about 6 months old and works perfectly for every other app. I’m contemplating a factory reset on the TV but it seems unlikely to fix this.

Would you contact our technical support team: https://support.tablotv.com/hc/en-us/#contact ?

If you do, please share the info you shared with us in your ticket, plus the SID of your Tablo.

Afterwards, please DM us the ticket number.

We’d like to take a deeper look.

@MikeH1

Did our Android 1.5.2 update mitigate the problem at all or does this still happen all the time after turning your TV back on?

Would you also give us more details on what happens when you try to record selected TV shows?

I did not have to restart my TV for the Tablo app to work today. Yesterday, the restart was required but the latest version must have taken a day to fully incorporate itself. But things are working great now. And I appreciate the hard work and quick responses from the Tablo Team and the Tablo community members.

Thanks,

@TabloTV - this is the precise argument where the objectivity of a built-in signal meter would remove the subjectivity of the user. I feel this is a mandatory and required feature.
