Tablo Amazon Fire TV/Android TV App (4th Gen) Update (v. 1.5.0 - 1.5.2)

Hi folks -

An update is now available for the Android TV and Amazon Fire TV apps for 4th generation Tablo devices.

This update has many under-the-hood improvements as well as a fix for the favorites filter on the live TV screen.

UPDATE - Feb 7, 2025

After the 1.5.0 update, we discovered a subset of Android smart TVs (mostly Sony, Hisense and TCL brands) were experiencing difficulties that caused the app to crash. Amazon Fire TV devices and smart TVs were not affected.

An update (1.5.1) is now available which should provide a much smoother experience for those users.

UPDATE - Feb 10, 2025

One additional update (1.5.2) is now available which should address any lingering issues for those with affected Sony, Hisense, and TCL TVs.

Here’s what you can expect:

Tablo Amazon Fire TV/Android TV App (4th Gen) Update (v. 1.5.0)

  • Fix for issue where live TV grid data was not properly displayed when using the favorites filter
  • Fix for issue where some deleted recordings would continue to be displayed in the interface despite being deleted from the database
  • Many other small bug fixes and performance improvements

Hi @davidrap

Sorry you’re running into that.

What device are you running into this problem on? Is the issue happening now? If this happened during our server maintenance period, but is not happening now, that may explain the issue.

If you’re still running into the problem, would you contact our technical support team? If you do, please DM us your ticket number, the email you used to contact them and your Tablo’s SSID.

@davidrap

We’re investigating the issue you reported and hope to have it fixed ASAP.

My Sony Bravia Google TV reports version 1.5. So far, no issues.

No problem with my Android phone running 1.5.0

Ill post another update tomorrow

A post was merged into an existing topic: Tablo Apple TV App (4th Gen) Update (v. 1.6.0)

On the Hisense google tv adroid 11 the app crashes repeatedly. ive tried uninstall/reinstall. clear data clear cache. same result. can i get 1.4 apk and see if the old version indeed runs correctly again.

v1.5 chromecast google app - Library > TV Shows: getting duplicate shows that have 0 recordings & 0 upcoming. when trying to open one i get “Failed to load content Please try again later” and have no way to remove them. starting to take over the listing… the show is “The Price is Right at Night” - i think it has something to do with it recognizing it as a special or something maybe.

i tried deleting rows from the TextEnum_Metadata table that matched a list of metaIDs i looked up and then deleted rows in Recordings, Scheduled & Metadata tables that matched the title “The Price Is Right at Night” in the Tablo.db sqlite3 db but didnt seem to have any impact. checked the file size to verify the database updated on the drive. any help/ideas?

I have two identical Hisense google TVS. the other tv hasnt updated to 1.5 yet and is stull running 1.4 without issue. the 1.5 version is unusable.

My Sony Bravia Android TV is on 1.5 and crashes constantly. I can’t even get to my library to watch recordings.

Just to echo what David said, major crashing issues with the app on a Bravia TV with android TV built in. It’s unusable.

Wow. Now I’m getting nervous.

I have 2 recently purchased Sony Bravia TVs (an “8” and a “3”) running Google TV Android 12. Both updated to Tablo 1.5 and both have been fine the last few days. No issues with my wife’s large recording library. No issues watching live TV from our rooftop antenna.

I have 2 other TVs on late model Firesticks (Android 11) and so far they are also fine with Tablo 1.5.

Odd that some users are having major issues.

We’ve just released 1.5.1, which fixes the app crash. Update and this should be resolved.

Thank you for getting on this quickly. I will check it out and monitor it. Is there a way to force an update or at least verify that it has been updated?

Still no video on Amazon Fire tablet.

Please please please. We need some satisfaction.

Rock steady on Sony x950G android 10, Hisense android 11 still a bag of worms

@MikeMabrey ,

You should be able to verify by going to: TABLO > SETTINGS > FIRE TV > APPLICATION VERSION.
