Bummer. I use my iPad in landscape mode. At least the videos rotate. Too bad the user interface doesn’t.

I don’t like being forced to use home page, guide, library in portrait mode, which is what this update does. No way to view them in landscape any more. At least on my ipad. There is no way I can find to get out of portrait mode on those pages.

I use ipad 99% in landscape. Viewing home, library, and guide pages in landscape was how I wanted to do it.

Am I missing a setting to set those pages in landscape?

Portrait/landscape should be manually switchable or automatically follow the orientation of the IOS device, on all views. When viewing a live show or a recording, the picture will change from portrait to landscape depending on the orientation of the ipad. +1. This would be fine for all pages/views, not just live shows or recordings.

Before I update, can anyone share if the newest version allows you to watch Picture-in-Picture on the iPhone? Or does it still commandeer your phone for just the Tablo?

I do t like the new update either. But then again I haven’t been happy with the new tablo. One of my favorite thing was to look for show and movies by channels. I had to remove all of the fast channel because they started placing the the fast channels above over the air channels. Here in the south we are having severe weather outbreak and with the way tablo decided to put fast channels over the over the air channels now takes me longer to get to the channel I want to watch. I also like the guide on the old tablo because it is bigger. I can also stream out side the home. I hope they continue to support the old tablo because in my opinion was a lot better unit,

Does anyone else have any issue with Tablo recording scheduled show? I’ve frequently encountered cases where I would find a show I scheduled to record was split into two parts. First part was recorded about 1 minute, then it would stop recording for around 15 minutes, and the 2nd part would record the rest of the show.

Welcome to the world of trying to record FAST channels. Since May 1st I’m 1 out of 11 that completely recorded in one segment. One that I scheduled that disappeared into the ether without trying to record.

Nope, no picture-in-picture mode, but the Android app doesn’t either and Android is limited to landscape only viewing. In fact, none of the client apps for the Tablo v4 on any platform I have will do picture-in-picture. It would be nice to have in the Guide listing on Fire TV and Google TV though.

Having a lot of trouble with AirPlay. I’m trying to use that as a substitute for the Apple TV app until its release. At times the Airplay button is not even there when watching something. When the button is there, most of the time just the audio goes to the other device while video continues to play on the phone.
I also am having issues with the skip forward/reverse buttons pausing the show instead of continuing to play from that point.
Picture in Picture would be great to see in the future as well.

Out of curiosity, how come you haven’t signed up for the AppleTV beta?

Despite any bugs, it might be easier than using airplay…

Hi folks - Apologies to the iPad folks on the landscape mode issues. We’ll be issuing another rev to fix that shortly as well as a few other small issues that crept in.

Unfortunately this is another symptom of Apple devices not handling playback of MPEG2 video. The AirPlay button should be disabled when you’re playing back live antenna TV or completed antenna TV recordings when you’re using expanded storage as this would result in the issue where it would cast the audio but not the video.

Free streaming channels and completed recordings on onboard storage that have had time to be archived as MPEG4 video should offer the AirPlay option and should work as intended.

We are exploring some workarounds to make this more consistent, but in the meantime you’re welcome to sign up for the Apple TV early access program:

I don’t like this either……I always use landscape mode ……now it comes on in portrait mode then I have to switch around the iPad. Please go back to landscape mode only……this is terrible.
