Much much better now with my LG now, also.
Well I spoke too soon. Tablo just crashed while watching a recording and went back to the Google TV home screen. Restarted the Tablo app and restarted the recording and everything is working fine again.
It just happened again, same two hour recording. Has never happened more than once in the same recording before.
I havenāt been seeing the original issue (restart)
for the past 1-1.5 weeks but it was replaced with a new issue āan unknown error has occurred, please try again.ā
The app is v1.3 and the firmware is v2.2.52 (latest).
It appears out of nowhere after doing nothing other than watching a show. I think that Iām watching a live show most of the time if not all of the time tho. Whereas the previous issue was while watching a recorded show.
This issue happens on multiple TVs with Fire Sticks.
When I go searching online I see advice to reboot the Tablo so I just did but I think that I did that earlier in the week too.
The weird thing is that it continues to play the show in the background (I can see and hear it).
However 75% of the screen is being blocked with this message.
IMO this message is either displaying too soon (there is no actual network issue), it should disappear after the āperceivedā network issue is resolved, and / or the message should be a small notification that you can click on to enlarge.
This has been an ongoing issue since day one. Some fw/app versions make it better, some make it worse. I donāt understand why it pops up when youāre not attempting to use the feature. I know a quick press of the back button will get it off the screen, but thereās no need to show this while watching a show/movie.
In the past, if a show/movie somehow did not embed the Info panel the entire thing would be like this, but IDK if itās still the same way. TBH, I quit using my Tablos after the new layout removed features I relied upon.
I saw this same error message for the first time just the other day. My setup is all Roku except for one ONN device. My wife was watching an OTA recording in the kitchen, where the ONN is, and had paused her program for a while. This message appeared at the bottom of the screen where the thumbnails for āwhatās on the other channelsā normally appears.
It did not interfere with her viewing, and when she un-paused her show it played back just fine. I donāt know if the message came back the next time she paused.
Still seeing the occasional app restart while watching recorded OTA. Also see the error sferrell615 screenshoted occasionally while FF, but that has been there for most of the new app versions.
Yeah I spoke too soonā¦ Iāve experienced the restart out of nowhere at least 2x in the past couple of days.
Yeah that unknown error seems pointless.
Does Tablo Support monitor threads such as this or is there a better method to provide feedback (e.g. support@tablotv.com)?
Thanks
Scott
I emailed support@tablotv.com. Their response was to uninstall, remove power for 5-10 seconds, and re-install. did that on 2 fire sticks but expecting a big fat fail since this is happening on everyoneās devices since the ānew app versionā. i did tell them this and youād think that they were aware of this already but
I submitted a ticket with support, was asked to go through some self help documentation, and am now working with someone specific. We have 3 models of Fire Stick that are all experiencing the same issue, along with an Xgimi projector & a Tizen monitor, also exhibiting the same behavior. Iāve already moved the Tablo so it could be on an ethernet connection and have removed my external storage to troubleshoot. If something we try resolves the issue, Iāll share it.
Are there just a few of us experiencing these issues or is everyone?
Good question
No surprise the uninstall / reboot / install didnāt fix either of the issues.
The āunknown errorā definitely happens more often than the āreturn to homeā on mine but both are a pain, especially when hosting people
Yes I can afford cable but itās a waste!
Iād much rather throw at fixing these problems.
Tablo needs a method for people to vote on stuff that needs Support to provide.
When mine restarts for no reason it usually restarts what Iām watching about 10 second before the place it froze at.
Watched a half hour recording yesterday using our onn 4k pro and the video kept freezing but the sound continued pretty much uninterrupted. This was from a particular channel that can give us signal problems at times. But usually the picture breaks up and gets all blocky (some people call it pixelating). The picture remained clear this time, would just freeze. And during this episode Tablo did the crash/restart thing three times. Also unusual as we typically see maybe one restart a night while watching several recordings.
Just a guess but could this restart thing have to do with bad recordings? Even if itās just a marginally bad recording with problems so minor we barely notice them.
This was a completed recording from OTA.
