Tablo Adds 45 New Free Streaming Channels from Warner Bros

Hi folks -

If your Tablo’s firmware is up to date, you may have noticed that your channel lineup looks a little beefier this morning.

We’ve added 45 new free streaming channels from our content partner Warner Bros. Discovery!

Get the details on the Tablo blog:

You can see a full list of all the streaming channels available on the Knowledge Base:

Unlike other free streaming channels on the Tablo platform, the WBD-branded channels cannot be recorded due to licensing restrictions.

But fear not! You’ll continue to be able to record most free streaming channels available on our platform. We’ll also continue to seek recording restriction-free agreements with new content partners where possible.

Recording will not be disabled on over-the-air TV channels.

Something was off this morning so I ran a channel scan.

AT LEAST 40 NEW FAST CHANS SHOWED UP.

Any of them any good?

Great Job, free channels are always welcome!

My channel list and guides updated automatically I guess during the regular maintenance process in the wee hours.
I guess the new channels are automatically added to the “Live” grid?
I had my usual dozen or so yesterday (all OTA) and now there are 60+.
I am not expecting to find much to interest me fingers crossed for a quality classic movie channel), but for my wife this will be “good as cable”.

With so many channels being offered on the Tablo it would be extremely helpful if we could change the order of those channels in the Tablo Guide.

I did a rescan to see the new channels. For me, there were only two or three that caught my attention, but everyone’s tastes are different. Glad to see Motor Trend, and CNN is nice to have, too.

Sorry to hear that they can’t be recorded, but appreciate the expanding line-up.

The only problem is that they can’t be removed from the channel lineup…
I am not interested in a channel I can’t record, but when I remove them and restart the Tablo, they are back.
How do you get rid of them?

I was able to remove them. For some reason it always takes me 2 cycles through the channel line up section in settings to make changes “stick”.

Not seeing these new channels. Rescanned, but still looks like the old lineup. For example, where will I find the new On The Telly streaming channel just announced? Not seeing CNN (mentioned previously) either.

We shared your feedback with development. In the meantime, the favorites menu may help.

Motor Trend? Can’t wait to get home

If that fails, we’d like to take a closer look.

Me too. How do I get the new channels to show up?

Actually, I took classicrockguy’s suggestion and tried again. It took several tries but they are deselected now.
If they reappear, I will file a ticket and let you know,

Just to double-check, when you run your channel scan and scroll to the bottom, do you see any of the new channels at all?

If the new channels appear but are unchecked, check them and save.

+1 - yes, it takes two or more cycles to save the settings after a channel rescan.

Yes! This worked for me. I now see the new channels.

Tablo says a few channels are restricted from recording. It seems all the new channels are restricted. I am not sure 40+ restricted channels are a few. Since I am not going to rearrange my schedule to watch programs I am interested in, I deleted all the new channels when I found this out.

If I can’t record anything this is completely useless. You might as well watch on Pluto or Tubi. At the very least if you’re going to build these channels this way, you should create a way to have reminders when a program is airing.
