I had no idea, that the Shield TV Pro, could upscale ATSC 1.0 OTA Internet streaming video to 4K. I already knew the Shield TV pro could not upscale ATSC 3.0 OTA Internet streaming TV video. Man, this is mind-blowing info …!
Now a lot of people will purchase a Tablo 4th Gen DVR/Streaming Player. They will say the hell with the ATSC 3.0 DRM mess and just purchase the Shield TV Pro/Tablo 4th Gen combo and let the Shield do the 4K upscaling {SEE Video Photo}. YouTube TV does the same thing, just upscale 1080p video to 4K, then sell it to you for $20.00 extra a month, hands down …!
The NFL game upscale to 4K FREE$$$$, via the Tablo 4th Gen DVR/Streaming Player, via the Shield TV Pro, using AI artificial intelligence video upscaling technology …!
Yeah right, I’m just glad I purchased the Tablo 4th Gen DVR/Streaming Player and have a Shield TV Pro with AI artificial intelligence 4K upscaling technology on board, built-in, awesome dude …!
Zippy, it doesn’t matter 1080i/1080p. The Tablo 4th Gen DVR/Streaming Player and the Shield TV pro are the “DREAM TEAM UNBEATABLE”! They go together like white on rice, like hands and gloves, like a marriage made in heaven. Notice in the upper left corner on the Tablo 4th Gen HOME SCREEN you see 3840x2160 60Hz 4K {SEE PHOTO}.
Guys, I love the Tablo 4th Gen DVR/Internet Streaming TV. Now I’m just waiting for the coming Tablo ATSC 3.0 NextGen DVR/Internet Streaming TV Player. Notice the Tablo app in the photo. Another thing too, I have been into the Android TV hacking game a long time before Google got into Android TV/Google TV, no debate needed {SEE PHOTO} …!

Almost “every” TV upscales everything to 4k. Nothing new about it, been that way years. Also the FireTV Cubes have something called “super resolution” that does the same thing.
You are correct “Almost Every TV Upscales” In The Photo 4K Video Resolution Quality Is On Board Built-In To My Home Internet Streaming TV Network {1080p To > 4K Upscalling}. Got “Super Resolution” too. No TV on the planet can upscale ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV video and NOT all TVs can upscale ATSC 1.0 OTA Over-The-Air TV video signals {SEE PHOTO}
My Cube playing an ATSC 1 channel, so almost everything does it. ATSC 3 channels do the same, looking at one now with my HDHR so they do upscale too. Now you can have the last word as you seem overly happy about this.

No TV on the planet can upscale ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV video and NOT all TVs can upscale ATSC 1.0 OTA Over-The-Air TV video signals {SEE PHOTO Above} I have a HDHomeRun Flex 4K ATSC 3.0 NEXTGEN OTA HDFX-4K/8K/H.265 TV NextGen device, Also the Shield TV Pro can handle HD H.265 video, but your Cube cannot handle that video format …!
Not all devices will upscale 480i and 1080i and some do a crappy job with 480i and 1080i. So to have consistent outcomes with both OTA and OTT streams with various bit rates I usually stick with 1080P upscale.
I thought the current cube supported
H.265 (HEVC). Hardware accelerated up to 2160p (4K) @ 60fps Main 10 Profile Level 5.1
Not all upscalers are equal. Some just duplicate the pixels, some interpolate between adjacent pixels, and others use AI to fill in the new pixels with what it’s learned should be there.
