Support same channel / two broadcasts on Tablo

Hello. I live in Las Cruces, NM. Both NBC and CBS are broadcast locally on channel 4-1 using different RF channels (14 vs 22). The broadcasts are coming from two different towers within 15 miles of where I live.

It seems that the Tablo can only display one 4-1 channel. I have a separate signal tuner (Mediasonic) that I used for setting up my antenna and it can easily pickup both the NBC 4.1 signal and the CBS 4.1 signal on the device. When a signal scan is conducted on the Tablo it defaults to NBC which comes in at 60% signal strength on the Mediasonic. CBS comes in at 70% signal strength.

Some additional information:
Every couple of weeks…The Tablo may switch over to the CBS broadcast. When I rescan, NBC is put back in. The Tablo can receive the digital programming for both NBC and CBS to receive the guide information. I have seen the following combinations in the Tablo guide listing:

Signal: NBC, Guide: NBC
or
Signal: CBS, Guide: NBC
or
Signal: CBS, Guide: CBS

Is it possible that the Tablo could support the two 4.1 channels? I’d like to have both channels on my one Tablo to watch and record programming.

I don’t know if this requires a manual workaround or would be a feature request for a future update.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. BTW…love the Tablo. Have had a great time using the product.

I think for something like this you probably should contact Tablo Support. Or, maybe the broadcast operator(s).

That is a Tablo design flaw. They can’t handle two stations with the same virtual channel number. See my posts in this thread. Station Mislabelled in Guide

For Las Cruces zip 88001, Gracenote has guide data for all four of the subchannels for KDBC. And for two of the seven subchannels of K42DJ (aka K22NM). But the Tablo developers don’t know how to match up the guide data to the right station.

@jalocke , @Ron1

We’d like to capture your Tablo DVRs’ logs. Would you be willing to set your devices up so we can do so?

If so, send us a DM and we’ll set this up.

I’d like to help, but I don’t have the problem. Maybe @dadrad51 and @Russell_Rogers from that earlier thread can help.

I live in San Marcos, Texas, halfway between San Antonio and Austin. I was getting all San Antonio and Austin affiliates except CBS in Austin. It was mislabelled as Family network. I found a user on reddit who lived in Austin and was having the same problem. He suggested using the Round Rock zip code instead of San Marcos. I did that and it worked! I would feel better using my own zip code if Tablo ever fixes their database.

By the way, I would be willing to capture the Tablo DVR’s logs, but I don’t know how to send them a DM.

try clicking on their name at the top of their message and you should see a message button :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks, tabjoe. I’ll give it a try.
