Station Mislabelled in Guide

There is one station in the Guide on my Tablo that is labelled FAM, when in fact it is CBS. The guide shows the movies and series on the Family channel rather than the local CBS affiliate.

I have rescanned several times but to no avail. This is a problem because this is the channel that I want to record CBS shows on because it is the only CBS affiliate that has good reception in my area. The help desk told me to use a nearby zip code and rescan. That did not help.

Does anyone have a workaround for a mislabelled station in the Tablo guide?

How many different zip codes did you try? It may take more than one try to get one that works.

I tried 4 different zip codes in my area. They all came back with FAM instead of CBS.

I finally found that zip code 78633 (Georgetown, TX) will get the CBS affiliate (KEYE in Austin) as channel 42.1 instead of the guide listing that channel as FAM. When I try my correct zip code, 78666 (San Marcos, TX), I get channel 42.1 listed as FAM in the guide. I don’t understand why they can’t just fix their database.

Tablo’s guide provider shows two stations on virtual channel 42.1 in zip 78666, KEYE (RF 34) Austin and KAXX (RF 35) San Antonio. The folks at Scripps/Nuvyyo have not figured out how to use the RF channel number to pick the right guide data for the channel the Tablo is tuned to.

Good to know, Ron1.

If Scripps/Nuvyyo can’t figure out the RF issue, why can’t Tablo switch to another guide data provider who can?

That is a question we have all been asking…

I wonder if they are somehow locked into a contract, or if their code is heavily tied to this provider and a change would require a lot of programming.

Yes, if everyone is asking that question, it must be something like you mentioned. Or they did a risk assessment of changing, and they decided the status quo was less risky for them from a financial viewpoint.

I read where they were coming out with an HDMI version this year, and perhaps they want to wait and see how the next version affects the status quo before changing.

Sorry, my post was confusing. E.W.Scripps and its subsidiary Nuvyyo are the companies that make Tablo. Gracenote is the guide provider. Gracenote has guide data for both KEYE and KAXX. It is the Tablo firmware from Scripps/Nuvyyo that is choosing to show you the guide for KAXX even though the Tablo is tuned to KEYE.

This is 100% the issue. I reported this problem to them a year ago. They confirmed the issue, but never fixed it.
