Server Outage (Resolving) - April 18, 2025

It’s called data harvesting. They sell your viewing habits in exchange for the free guide. The “fix” they’re proposing when internet or their servers are down, I’m sure will entail caching that data until it’s able to be sent again.

I’m starting to wonder if this is just a server capacity/bandwidth issue as they sell more and more of these devices, as well as add more FAST channels. I’m also wondering if this is specific to certain times of the day. It seems to affect us more in the evening hours when there would likely be more concurrent users. I need to start paying attention to this, as it would further support lack of server capacity as the issue.

BTW. We have very good 500 mbps fiber internet service, and there is no evidence of significant slowdowns during peak evening hours. When the Tablo is acting up, we tend to switch over to streaming like MAX, Prime, AppleTV, etc. Those services tend to be working fine when Tablo is otherwise faltering. Same for direct OTA to the TV tuner. Not an internet thing, but confirmation there are not OTA signal issues to the Tablo when all the spinning and error messages are occurring.

I am otherwise a dedicated Tablo user and supporter. I just don’t understand why these continuing issues aren’t being worked as the highest of priorities. If all they care about is selling more boxes without fixing this, eventually I will have to go down another road. Pity.

Maybe it’s because of the time of day we watch recordings. Or the time we record them. We never seem to notice any of the problems others are reporting. What time(s) of day is this typically happening?

This Gen 4 is such a POS. Mine has taken to showing ‘unknown error’. I’ve tried the rebooting sequence, no difference. I wish Tablo would get their s**t together and let us watch our recorded shows when their damn servers blow lunch!
I feel like I’m being pushed more and more to streaming services, but then you have those reliability issues as well. I hate these friggin’ computers!

After multiple reboots (router, tablo, streamer) this POS finally came back. So if it doesn’t work the first time, try, try again. What a joke.
