After the update my recordings are now sorted by recording date and not in numerical order. Not Cool.
Agreed. @TabloTV this is a step backward; please provide a sorting choice!

@Madd1One,
I purchased the 4th gen Tablo when it first came out. I too have struggled with how unreliable the device has been and how buggy the software has been. I ended up giving up on Tablo after a significant amount of time. I purchased an HD Homerun 4 tuner box, a mini PC, and subscribed to the ChannelDVR software. It’s 80/year so it’s only 6.67/month. Night and day improved DVR experience. I now have a very stable over the air DVR with many advanced features that just work. It also works very well watching shows away from home and allows me to watch recordings at home if my public internet is down.
I know a lot of people don’t want to spend any money for over the air tv, but for me this was the best solution and now I don’t think about recording failures or crashes, stuff just works.
The only caveat I will bring up is going this route they don’t support Roku. It’s really iOS and Android/Android TV.
Ok, what has changed or been updated recently??
Tablo Gen 4 using a Roku - I have one new recording. click on it, select ‘Watch Latest Episode’. It used to bring up that one recording. Now it just goes out, appears to not find it and return to the menu. To view it, you have to select ‘See more recordings’ and select the one recording shown.
@TabloSupport @TabloEngineering did you break this in a recent update??
Things were going great on build 600 but then I was updated to build 700. Now the app crashes while scrolling through the guide (always happens on the same channel for some reason). Happening on both Roku Ultra and Roku Express 4K models. Tried rebooting the Tablo and Rokus, but it doesn’t help. Something must have changed in the latest version. Anyone else seeing this?
Hi. I have a fourth gen tablo along with a roku. recently when I try using live guide, tablo turns off and screen goes back to roku. Any help appreciated. Sorry if I posted in wrong area.
Hi all, thank you for the details. We are aware of an issue with this Roku Tablo 4th Gen app update (v. 0.8.700), causing the app to crash as some users navigate to the Live TV screen. So far, our team has been able to confirm this crash is quite rare; it may be limited to the Roku OS version or the Roku model itself - but this is still to be determined. Our product team is actively investigating as a top priority. We hope to have an update with a resolution soon. Thank you for your patience while we work on this.
You didn’t mention the sort order. Are users suppose to assume that the new release is correct?
The new update 0.8.700 did not fix anything. If I am watching a live show and hit the back button (left arrow) it goes back to the top of the guide instead of going to the channel I was watching. (This works correctly on my Android phone app.) This used to work. At least I am not having the Live guide crash that other users are experiencing. I guess that is all you can hope for when there is an update, that nothing breaks instead of improvements. Since Tablo doesn’t charge for their guide you get what you pay for.
System:
Roku Ultra (4802X) OS 13.1.4 Tablo app 0.8.700
2 chan 4th gen Tablo FW 2.2.52
All connections are Ethernet
I spoke too soon. Scrolling through the guide does crash. Just how rare is this? See my last message for a description of my system.
I have deleted several channels both OTA and FAST because selecting them or even just scrolling past them on the grid, sends me back to the Roku (ultra) home screen.
No sooner do I delete those channels, then others take their place and send me back to the home screen. And then, starting Tablo from the Roku home screen is often really slow or needs several attempts.
Very annoying and makes Tablo unusable. Seems to have started after the Roku app update.
Good morning everyone. My Gen 4 has been playing fine up until this morning. I turned it on the local news and within a couple of minutes it kicked me back to the main screen. It has not done that in a couple of months. I am running it on a Roku Ultra and the ONN 4K Pro. This morning I was running it on the Roku when it happened. I have noticed the guide looks and runs better on the ONN. It was probably the Roku that caused the problem but it has been playing fine and something I will just have to live with. I am sure that a lot of people are still having problems with the new Tablo and maybe over time the bugs will bet worked out. I have to admit at times I have not thought very highly of the Table
There was an update to the Roku app (0.8.700) a few days ago and it sounds like this is an issue affecting at least a few others.
I will check that out and see if I got the update. Thanks
Just moving this thread here to keep everything in one place.
So I have all the latest firmware and software updates, however when I go into the Live guide, I still get thrown out and back to the Roku home screen.
I wiped the network dust off of my Roku Ultra to see how it works. It got the update and didn’t notice any issues other than the one that’s been there since the beginning. Where you delete a recording then other recordings no longer display so you have to exit the app then restart it to see the other recordings again. We don’t miss Roku.
Seems that this is the thread for the update problems.
My tablo was working fine up until a few days ago I presume when it updated to the latest roku app update. Kick backs and circles when trying to tune to a channel. I get that they are trying to fix things and make our lives better but they need to have a beta crew to test these apps out before they roll to the gen pop.
I mean it’s not unwatchable but it’s got some annoying quirks. I hope they get the bugs ironed out as it seems I just get stable again and they roll out another “update” that trashes things.
There is a beta crew, but for some reason the Tablo folks haven’t been releasing Roku betas to us anymore.
My 4th Gen quad is about 8 months old. Has been working fine. Now when I click on Live then click down to channels the click down to the tv listing grid, it exits out of the app and goes to the Roku home screen. Also exit out when I click across from Live to Sports. Seems to work on android phone app OK. Problem is on all my Roku devices.
There was a recent Roku update (0.8.700) that is causing a few issues. Look through that thread and you’ll see what’s been fixed as well as what others are experiencing.
