Roku APP not loading

I posted the jist of it on the Roku 14 thread… I think my stuff may be a little different.

I have 4 Roku TV’s and 1 Roku Ultra. 1 TV is on 14 and rest are on the 13.

All Roku’s are fully updated, APP is updated, and Tablo is updated. Roku APP will not open.

It blinks and goes back to the home screen. Out of the blue Roku APPs stopped working.

I have the Onn 4k box right next to my Roku Ultra. Onn 2K Streaming Stick hooked up to our bedroom TV. They work.

iPhone works, Onn 4k, and Onn Stick works. Thanks to @269587 , he sent me his Onn Devices to test with. They work great. My wife needed to watch her shows.

Confirmed solid wireless signal. Ultra is hardwired. I pump out about 10TB a month of data out of my home. My router/firewall has the horsepower. Removed all ACL’s and VLAN’s. No go. I have an SSID that lands in VLAN1 (Core VLAN, No VLAN Tags). All my Streaming Devices and Tablo are located in it.

Check my Firewall and DNS server, nothing is being blocked from my Tablo device. Everything is flowing.

Reset all my Roku’s last night (10/2) Tablo App worked. Tried this morning same issue. APP sits at the “loading free channels” screen, blinks and goes back to the Roku Home Screen.

Rebooted my Tablo. I did not reset the Tablo due to having my wifes shows on it. Also other devices are working with it.

I also rebooted my whole rack. Takes about 3-5 minutes to fire up at full speed. Same thing.

Kind of a bug a boo that Roku’s are having issues and all of my mine are out too. But with a different behavior.

For giggles, I tried this:

No go for me. Still same issue.

I also permanently turned off CC and still no go.

Update:

Ran a Pcap (wireshark) on my network, while my desktop is plugged into the core switch.

Did not see anything crazy going on when Rokus trying to access the Tablo.

Well if you spend all your development time on appletv beta it becomes obvious that the other apps are FUBAR. I finally had to turn on my spare legacy unit. I was spending way too much time fighting the guide mistakes, disappearing scheduled recordings, and inability to schedule recordings.

My wife is really liking the Onn devices. The 2 rooms she is in the most, maybe swapped over to Onn Devices. Android APP works wonderfully! Loads really quick and very responsive.

Since it will be Onn Devices, testing with Channel DVR maybe in my future. Since it has a 30 day trial period. Also my boss is letting borrow his HD Home Run again. My wife is eyeing the Philo and OTA stuff in 1 guide option. We will see how that goes.

It might be viable to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app for one of your Rokus, if that works, do so with the others.

If you only knew the things he’s tried! It’s why I ended up sending the my extra onn stick!

Yea… forgot to mention that. I did that on all my Rokus. Still a no go!

At this stage, it might be viable to try a soft (not a hard) reset, if you’re willing.

I’ve rebooted it a few times. Roku App will work for a while and die out again. It will work for about 30 to an hour.

I will submit a ticket this weekend. (tomorrow)

With the full reset… If you pay for a weekend at a nice hotel, I will reset it. My wife will lose her shows. Not a chance. Happy Life Happy Wife!

My Roku Ultra now shows video after Roku Audio is switched to custom. But only video working, no audio.

My Roku Tablo APP isnt going past the logo… it pops back to the home page of Roku.

Just for giggles… I whitelisted all my Rokus and Tablo. Through my DNS server and to pass straight through the gateway. No Filtering, No Scanning, nothing. APP still crashes.

My Ultra and Tablo are plugged into the same core switch. Do not see any errors/alerts in the switch log or pcap file.

Did a few Cache Reset on my Rokus, no Go.

Uninstall the APP and it works for about an hour. Reboot the Tablo, then works for a few minutes.

Onn4k and Onn Stick always on point. This is on 5 Roku devices. Weird,

It sounds like there is something on all your Rokus that the Tablo app does not like. Maybe another app or a setting.

I might try creating a new Roku account. Factory reset one of the Rokus. Sign on with the new account. Install only the tablo app and see if it works.

I just replaced my other Roku Ultra with another ONN 4k Pro and moved the FireTV stick from that TV to one with a very old Roku stick. Anywhere I had a Roku I also needed a FireTV device to access my NAS because the manufacturer (of the NAS) stopped supporting a Roku app years ago. I now have only one device on all my TVs that can access everything I need them to, trouble free.

My wife finally got through her shows… We have a Roku TV in our bed room and she misses watching her stuff in there.

I told her the last resort is to reset the Tablo. Which I have not reset this thing since Feb '24. I got it in Dec '23.

I reset it and all rokus are working for now. I will check back later. But I have no idea what could it have been that just affected the Rokus.

Edit: All my Rokus are on newest OS. But all my Roku Tvs are stereo anyways.
