I have the same issue he is having and using the same roku 4k streaming stick ver 14.0 and Tablo 8. something. It shows OTA channels and plays on the tv by the Tablo, but in any other room it does not play the OTA channels…it seems like it wants to play them, but it justs goes back to the guide…FIXED MY ISSUE…i have the older Samsung tvs…buy on a newer LG it worked fine.
Guys, i think i found my issue…I ran across something about Samsung TVs older than a 18 or 19 model…so i checked mine and they are 2016 models…SO my daughters room has a 18 or 19 model LG in here room and i hooked up the ROKU 4k streaming stick 14.0 and hit tablo 8.8 something and hit local OTA channels and they all worked fine on my wireless Starlink network.
Another one of my Roku updated to the buggy version 14. Interestingly, this is one of my oldest ones, an Express that has both HDMI and Composite outputs, BUT my Tablo works okay on this one. I can watch OTA live or recorded and I have sound. Weird…
The only issue I am having is when viewing the progress bar the numbers in the timestamps are 'X’ed out.
Roku Model 3910RW
Thanks for the tip. Like others, though, I get the picture but no sound. Probably the 14 year old Panasonic Plasma tv can’t handle the Dolby audio settings.
Same problem here
Since the tablo update [this AM, 10/7] I cannot watch any of the recorded shows. It just blinks the title and date and goes back to the selection screen. I don’t have a ‘clear cache’ button on my tablo app so I unplugged tablo for 20 seconds and rebooted. No change.
I’m using a Roku 3810x - Roku OS 14.04 [not on a smart TV].
tablo firmware 2.2.52.
What you are describing sounds very much like the known issues with Roku OS 14. Is it possible that your Roku updated the OS at about the same time that the Tablo app was updated? Can you access OTA channels via Live?
Yes I can watch live TV, everything else is working, recordings, etc. I do have an older Roku that is still in v13 and I can watch the recorded shows. I wonder if I can keep the Roku from updating? At least I can switch the Roku to the other TV [for the moment].
Unplug it?
I’ve actually considered doing this… What a pain.
Moved this thread here, so as to keep all the Roku concerns in one place.
Found a work around. I am able to watch the recorded shows on my android phone through the tablo app. I then mirror the show to my roku device. I was thinking of buying an amazon fire stick [prime day today] but this works for the moment.
I have an issue with the Roku 4th gen Tablo app where it crashes when I try to access my library of recorded shows. What happens is that it loads the names of the shows then when it tries to load the meta data for the graphical pictures it goes back to the Roku home screen. I am on Roku OS 13.xx and not 14. And I am using a 4800X Roku Ultra. It the tablo app works fine on my phone. I can watch live TV on my Roku without any issues. Is anybody having this issue? It worked fine before on the Roku.
Yes! Me! It started doing that to me yesterday. I cannot play my recorded shows when I hit to play. It goes back to Home Screen.
This is an issue we’re digging into.
We’ll move this thread to another that has work arounds and advice.
Same as everyone …HOWEVER, found this tidbit:
I had Roku 3520X Streaming Stick 4K on a 2019 LG Smart TV and 3941X Roku express 4K+ on a 2023 LG TV. Roku Stick stopped working as described. Roku Express was fine. Swapped Roku Stick and Roku Express between TVs and Roku Express stopped working on older TV. Roku Stick worked fine on newer LG TV. So now we can throw the TVs into the mix?
What about them stopped working? That’s pretty vague.
There could be a difference in HDMI versions on those TVs. I’ve mentioned the “fix” that causes the missing audio issue might also be an HDMI issue, but since my Roku Express 4k+ is working fine, I can’t say for sure.
“Roku Stick stopped working as described” was just my way of connecting to the specific topic.
That is, Tablo will no longer play OTA channels or recordings. Upon requesting either function Tablo just spins for a moment and returns to previous menu.
I’m using a Roku stick+ 3810x - Roku OS 14.04 [not on a smart TV]. This worked for me, woohoo! Haven’t checked my other roku yet.
Recently, I tried to watch a network station (NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.), and Tablo will begin to load the channel (the ‘ringworm’ appears), but then it drops back to the channel guide. This is on my Roku stick which was working fine last weekend. I have five active Roku devices that are not having this issue.
Channels like Ion come in, but I don’t believe these are ‘over-the-air’ channels. The last Roku update was yesterday AFTER this issue began.
What I’ve Done:
- Reset Tablo twice (un & replugged it)
- Rebooted Roku four times
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the Tablo app
- Checked for Tablo updates
- Checked for Roku updates
- Reset the wireless connection on Roku
Tech Info
- App Ver 0.8.800-734366
- Roku Model 3810X
- Roku OS 14.0.4
- Tablo Firm 2.2.52
Does anyone have suggestions?
