If your roku was working with the gen 4 why did you update it to roku OS 14? If it wasn’t working with the gen 4 did you see anything in the Roku OS 14 release notes that would indicate that the 14 release fixed your problem.
I did the update because maybe the update would fix the green screen on Tablo. I did not look at the release notes for OS 14. I can only watch FAST channels, no recorded programs or OTA channels work.
The Roku won’t prevent the tablo from recording. But loose coax connections at the antenna or tablo unit will. As will a bad tablo unit or over amplification.
What’s interesting is Tablo works perfect on another Roku on my home that’s running OS 13 and is a different model. But, both are streaming sticks.
My 2 Roku sticks and my Roku TV work ok with OS 13, but the one Roku stick that updated to OS 14 still does not play OTA stations yet. I was reading that OS 14 is a beta update, so we are being test dummies. If you read this, DON’T UPDATE TO OS 14.
Doesn’t roku update automatically, and the updates can’t be delayed ?
I think you are correct. I have looked in the settings on all of my Roku and I don’t see any way to turn off automatic OS updates.
(Also, every time I write I struggle with the correct plural of Roku. Rokus looks too much like ‘ruckus’ and sounds weird when I try to say it. So, I have decided that that Roku is like ‘deer,’ ‘fish,’ and ‘fox,’ it can be both sigular and plural. One Roku, many Roku… herd of Roku.)
Roki sounds about right
For the first major OS release like 13.X.X or 14.x.x if a user checks for updates often Roku asks if you want to install and you can select later. But once it reaches some unknown rollout time schedule it will auto-install.
I am a compulsive, addicted updater FBOW (“seeker”) but I figured Roku sooner or later updates automatically since Roku HQ does not want to contend forever with laggard versions.
Roku will march on, so if Tablo does not stay alert and stay compliant with Roku 14, we will have a new crop of problems. ![]()
The problem is that Roku makes it impossible to keep up. Even if Tablo had advanced copies of the OS to write code for, there is a much longer process for getting an app submitted, approved, and then made available when it coms to Roku. Glad you weren’t here for the December 2023 debacle! A fix was made within hours but not available until early January…
@TabloTV, @TabloForumAdmin – would it be better if all Roku OS 14 threads were merged together? There’s too many to try and follow at this point.
Agreed.
Doing so now.
Tablo gen 4 no longer works since Roku 9104x Soundbar SE update to ver 14. Selecting any channel from guide brings up spinning circle and return to menu. Tablo still works fine while with my other Rokus, ultra and stick on older versions. Issue reported to Roku as well. Help!
I’m having same issue with Roku StreamBar SE. Cannot view live TV nor recorded programs. Just immediately goes back to program guide.
My 2 other Roku are fine.
My Tablo app on iOS is fine.

It seems that Tablo often has issues when Roku updates are received. I don’t have such issues with other apps on my Roku. Why is that? Coding or what? If so, shouldn’t someone at Tablo figure this problem out?
It sounds like it’s hard to stay on top of apps when it comes to Roku. Companies have complained that there’s too long of a delay between submitting the app, it being accepted, and then being available. Tablo can only go along with these guidelines – let’s hope that they get their beta versions super early and can continue to submit updates quickly.
Hi all, we’ve merged a few of these threads to address two issues:
- The Roku live grid briefly experienced an issue yesterday causing airings to become non-selectable. This issue has since been resolved and we have a fix in the works to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
- We’re aware of and are investigating an issue causing a small number of Roku OS14 devices to experience a player shutdown and being returned to the live grid when attempting to watch an OTA channel. We are working with Roku and hope to have a solution ASAP.
We’ll add to this thread as further updates come available.
I have 4 Roku TV’s and 1 Roku Ultra. 1 TV is on 14 and rest are on the 13. All Roku’s are fully updated, APP is updated, and Tablo is updated. Roku APP will not open. It blinks and goes back to the home screen. Out of the blue Roku APPs stopped working.
iPhone works, Onn 4k, and Onn Stick works. Thanks to @269587 , he sent me his Onn Devices to test with. They work great. My wife needed to watch her shows.
Confirmed solid wireless signal. Ultra is hardwired. I pump out about 10TB a month of data out of my home. My router/firewall has the horsepower. Removed all ACL’s and VLAN’s. No go.
Kind of a bug a boo that Roku’s are having issues and all of my mine are out too. But with a different behavior.
I do like these Onn devices though. The wifey may stick with them in the living room and the bedroom. Tablo APP loads so fast on it.
For anyone here having issues attempting to play a live channel on Roku OS 14, can you post the Roku model it occurs on?
