On my bedroom TV, I have tried everything, and I either get a failure or no audio. It appears to mainly depend on the TV.
mine did that also, i also have close caption on screen in all stuff even on fox and more in sling stuff i have
Caption is a Roku setting. While watching any program press the Options (*) button. Your options should be On Always, On Replay, and Off.
I have an older âdumbâ TV paired with a Roku 4K streaming stick. I was having the issue everyone is reporting here, but was able to get it resolved by changing an audio setting on my TV directly. Under the digital audio out settings on my TV, I had a setting available for PCM. I switched over to PCM from Dolby Digital, and now the Tablo app on my Roku is streaming OTA content just fine.

Will there be an update this week that fixes this issue? Its been longer than one month and the Tablo still does not work on many Roku devices.
Itâs a top priority @jkrus10414. We canât give an ETA yet but it is something weâd like to release soon.

Connecting up any of the Rokus above to my Sony Bravia TV works for streaming Tablo live or recordings.
Anecdotally I have another 55 Inch SONY TV that has a different older Roku Ultra connected to it and all tablo streams work.
Also have an older Sharp TV with a 3914X2 Roku Express 4k +
connected to it that doesnât stream tablo.
So Sony seems to be fine nothing else here. No Sound bars here either.
Update: I have my LG TVâs working now.
Ok I found a fix for my LG tvâs
I think others have said change the HDMI input mode on the TV⌠so I went to do that and the option was greyed outâŚ
So to get it ungreyed out⌠I selected the Roku input and then pushed the gear for settings on my LG remote⌠The LG TV Overlays the settings over the ROKU menu so Roku is still selected⌠that way I was able to select between PCM and bitstream.
PCM was already selected so I chose bitstream and wallah⌠it worked!
The Sharp TV that I have seems to be elusiveâŚ
In General it looks like somehow the Auto select mode is not working between Roku and certain TVâs⌠possibly Roku dependent as well and as itâs been pointed out
it is tracking the Roku FW update.

i have put a old roku on my old tv in bedroom and when i goto the tablo and select channel a football game that is playing on my roku tv in livingroom, it wonât play it goes back to the guide, but other channe;s will play, i have reset unplugged it and reset at the main 4th gen tablo, also reset the wifi for it, still wonât play my game in the bedroom.
@KLL This may be a viable work around:
In the Settings for the Roku device, navigate to: Audio â Digital Output Format â Custom.
Make sure Dolby Digital is selected for the Dolby section - leave the âDTSâ Setting disabled.
Return to the Tablo app and try playing an OTA channel again.
this chat is crazy small and trying to figure it out lol, this is crazy and tiny. i called the tablo number and there is an issue with the software for 14.0 so they working on it. will notify thru roku not my email dah. it worked before on that tv before i got new roku tv so i don
't get it.
well not it wonât play themso went back to roku and sling and fox, it keeps circling then plays but it has close caption on it and canât find where to turn it off, i am ready to goto best buy and just get a roku small tv, got the 55 in xmas on sale but even to big in livingroom so a smaller one in bedroom would work if on sale lol. she said it was the software though. i asked if i got a new roku stick would it help, she said alot of people are having the issue and could be on new one also, 14.0 softare.
Yes, this is the known Roku OS14 bug. You will find a lot more about this ongoing issue by checking out the thread called Roku 14 and Live Grid Concerns.
Tablo is working with Roku on a fix, but we donât have an ETA.

well went to best buy and got a roku 43inch was 249.99, 30.00 discount if open credit card and then card can be used for gas, food and more 3% cash back not bad. if goes cheaper in 3 mo i get that back. i have geek squad so itâs covered for that and more.

Same. Changing the audio settings allows programs and recordings to play, but with no sound. Itâs been two weeks now. Really hoping this is fixed soon.

No recordings played on other TVs just fine will play on this box. The irony now is I have two of them doing the same thing now after switching them around.
