If this is the case, why do none of the other streaming services / apps have issues like this?
I can see how people think this is a waste of money. I returned mine several months ago and went back to my Legacy Tablo, which is still (fingers crossed) working with my new Roku Ultra. I then turned back around and bought another Gen4 during the Amazon Deal Days (why?!).
I think some issues are difficult to describe for some people because thereās such a divide between the way we think it should work and the way it actually works (or doesnāt work).
I now have both Legacy and Gen4 Tablos running and I have an issue on the Gen4 where the time doesnāt show up on the time bar when using FFW and FRW within a recording. I get the āmissing textā with each digit showing a vertical rectangle with an X in the middle. I suppose Iāll report this in a new or proper thread.
New Roku Ultra 4850X
App Ver: 0.8.800-734366
Roku OS: 14.0.4
Tablo FW: 2.2.52
Itās something were aware of and working on resolving.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Weāll move this to our Roku 14 thread.
Will there be a fix today?
Yet again! I cannot use my Tablo unit because it keeps going back to the main menu regardless of trying to play live TV or a recorded show. This happens a lot! We are using a Roku TV setup but also issues with my Android app. NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE WITH PRIOR GENERATION AND SUPPORT FOR THIS SUCKS!!! Yes all firmware is updated, yes all units an routers have been rebooted, yes antenna signal comes in without Tabloā¦ how about you fix your shitty product!
Reminds me of the Sonos debacle. Never buying another one of those, either.
Sorry youāre running into this.
Our team has been made aware of this issue caused by the Roku OS 14 update. The results depend on the Roku hardware model. We have made Roku aware of this issue and are working with them to resolve this as soon as possible.
This may be a viable work around:
Weāll move this to our Roku thread so as to keep everything in one place.
We hope the above gets your Tablo up and running and hope to have a solid resolution soon.
I ran into this same problem with HDHomeRun on the Roku after the v14 update. HDHomeRun didnāt just fail, it gave a message that my device didnāt support AC3 audio. After following the steps to manually enable Dolby audio, HDHomeRun also works.
Thank you! I didnāt know other apps were having similar issues.
Thank for let us know the test you you did, I checked my and the model 3820X is the one with the issues and not in all channels, the order one has updated 14.0.4 and no problems the still on 13 something. You are the one more helpful and appreciated your help. Tk
When I select one of my recorded shows on Roku to play it, the show wonāt play, but rather immediately returns me to the Library. This happens on multiple shows, and recordings that I know are there because I can watch them on the iPhone app.
I had an older Roku and this happened (even after monthts of working consistently) so I thought maybe my Roku was past its end-of-life and bought a new one. It worked consistently for about two weeks, and now the same issue as happened on my old Roku.
Try this, it worked for me and others.
In the settings for the Roku device, go to Audio ā Digital Output Format ā Custom, then make sure Dolby Digital is selected for the Dolby section. Can leave DTS off. Then go back to the Tablo app and try again.
Thank you! I tried that - and my shows now do play, but now thereās no audio! The audio settings you describe do work on my other apps (Hulu, Netflix, etc) but causes Tablo shows to play silently.
I tried the roku audio settings but recorded shows will not play. They play fine on the android phone app. Any different ideas?
This is the same issue as:
Same issue as mentioned above when playing recorded shows stop right away and goes back to Tablo home screen. Played around with audio settings in Roku then can get recorded shows to play but then no audio but still audio on live tv? Thinking there has to be a bug on Tabloās side of things.
Itās just odd that everything was working flawlessly on the Roku one day, and then overnight things changed without me changing anything as far as configurations, settings, etc.
The correct procedure to temporally fix this problem is as follows:
On the roku go into settings Audio - Digital Output Format - Custom then make sure Dolby Digital is selected. Then go to Audio Mode and set it to Auto (DD). Then go back to the Tablo app and try again. If Tablo now works but you have no sound then your TV or Sound Bar or whatever you use to output audio does not support Dolby Digital and you are going to need to wait until the problem is solved by Roku or Tablo.
I thought Iād chime in that Iām having the same problem after the latest update on 1 of my 2 Tabloās. The temp fix works for meā¦ with sound (thank goodness). Has anyone confirmed that Tablo engineers have been made aware of the problem?
