Add to that, patronizing and condescending.
All they had to do is say…
Sorry, but there has been a major breakdown of our system. Please be patient, but it may take us 2 to 3 weeks or more to get all the programming issues resolved…
Thinking support, sometimes you take a “very good guess” and “you’re wrong”… and I think that is probably where they are at. Many companies do “tech” on the cheap. And, Tablo is cheap tech. So, the idea that there is a grasp of every detail… well, it might not “be there” because of the “renting of people” over time, etc. That is, Tablo made “good guesses”, but the guesses were just that… guesses. And as it is so much in technology, their “good guess” wasn’t quite good enough and the next guess wasn’t much better, etc. And so, the guesses continue and hopefully they’ve got things narrowed down enough (you learn more with each guess) that maybe a more viable long lasting fix is coming (??).
Anyway, I do this sort of thing for a living. Trying to figure out and fix other people’s “genius”. It can be difficult.
Ignorant fool.
But evidently you will disparage those who live outside of “flyover states” - you know, people who don’t “have lives besides TV?”
I’m a former programmer. As far as I can tell the guide problem is either a data source or something so broke it won’t get fixed. This is also not the first time they’ve had problems with the guide - just the first that’s been this number of days. However one of the support people said that the legacy tablo has the ability to record by time (start and stop). Assuming that’s true the workaround isn’t hard. Drop the code in a test bed for tablo 4, test it out, then put it in production. It could have been done by now. As far as I’m concerned Tablo 4 is a useless product ready for the trash. Tablo was easier and seemed a decent price but I guess I should have gotten something you can run from a computer.
I think you have given a good explanation of what is likely going on. ![]()
PROGRESS!!!
GOOD NEWS!!! The guide data on my app looks to be mostly corrected. There are just a few of the seldom used streaming shows with the programing not available error.
But, for some reason it is not showing up on the TV yet. Hummmmm…
And when I click on the show it still doesn’t log onto it, but at least I can see some progress…
I just wasted my time clearing the cash and re -uploading the guide data for the umpteenth time. Still the same. CBS, NBC, ABC Fox and PBS or what I watch and record and I haven’t been able to for 8 days now.
I won’t go back to cable so I’m wondering if anybody knows another system that’s available on the market. Cost is not an option but reliability is everything.
The guide issue appears to be resolved on our Gen 4 Tablo on AppleTV, iPad, etc..
I just checked mine, I quickly scrolled to the right and up and down to see a few networks and it looks much better. I can’t honestly say that I’ve seen any gaps in the schedule. I’m going to check a bit more closely later, but so far even NBC has started populating, which is a definite plus.
Addendum: APPLE TV I just tried to set up a series recording, but the Tablo app returns the message that there are no upcoming airings in the next two weeks. I know that’s not true because I have another device that shows several airings in the next couple of weeks. So i’m not quite sure if the guide is still populating data for the next couple of weeks but I’m only able to record tonight’s broadcast.
Addendum: FIRE TV…when I highlight my AGT recording in Fire TV to see if this platform lists upcoming recordings, I encounter “error loading airing details” message.
And don’t judge me on the program.![]()

OTA TiVo Edge is something I own and it works well enough but I’m not sure if TiVo sells them anymore as they bizarrely seem to be focused on the dying cable industry with their TiVo Edge for Cable. I’ve also heard good things about the somewhat pricey HD Homerun.
The other concern I have about purchasing any new EXPENSIVE hardware today is what happens when we switch to NextGen TV, also known as ATSC 3. I think the rollout is scheduled for 2028 and I’m not quite sure what is going to be able to record or IF we’ll be able to record. Are we going to have to pay a fee to watch and record once free broadcast television now that Broadcasters are trying to encrypt NextGen programming? I don’t know and I don’t know if anyone really knows in 2025..![]()
As in, you have experienced the recent issue of missing guide data on your Tablo apps… and it has since resolved - all guide data back in place. (I haven’t seen anyone say that yet!)
Or does the problem continue on your end? In spite of all the steps given and taken, the same channels continue to have missing data on all of our devices.
It’s been 4 days now and nothing’s changed. Done everything that’s been suggested and then some. Some channels still can’t be recorded. Some recordings record even though it says missing programming, but it’s almost impossible to get any new content or news content on the major networks, which is my frustration because I can’t get it anywhere else.
Everyday I get the same response that it is fixed and it will take up to 24 hours to update and if I want to make it faster I can clear my cache and upload my programming again. Well maybe that works for some folks but it hasn’t been working for me.
I’m getting most of my video content from YouTube right now until this gets fixed.
I stopped looking or caring, just using the Legacy app.
Even when working wasn’t as good as Legacy. More work than the Legacy to do anything.
Issue not resolved here.
Nope. No fixed guide for me on 4 different devices. In fact, I tried to update the guide on Firestick 4K Max app and it hung at 17% and I had to abort.
No improvement.
Just updated guide and still holes😞
I never really started caring. Haven’t touched the Tablo, the onn device, or my router during this whole fiasco and it just keeps recording everything that it’s programed to record, as usual. And yes my guide has not improved.
