I gotta ask. Why did my 4th gen and 10 year old legacy work fine during this outage with my onn 4k pro? The light was always a solid blue. I wasn’t using my Tablo during this time but was testing it frequently.
Couldn’t tell you why not you, but the issue was apparently due to having to be connected to the backend server(s). Our Gen4 was down briefly, and our OG was only down over web, not in Roku or Fire Stick, so we were also relatively unaffected throughout the outage.
Mine worked the entire time as well. But a friend of mine was trying to set up his brand new Tablo and had all kinds of problems, until he finally figured out that there was this huge issue.
In addition to missing guide data for quite a number of TV programs, when I click on some TV programs on the EPG to record an episode I’m getting the message “program ended 56 years 4 months ago” and I cannot set up a recording.
Services that unnecessarily rely soly on the cloud are horrible. So far I’ve had 2 different services/equipment bricked because of this.
The “no programming available” issue could be solved by allowing users of gen 4 to record at specific times and dates.
As of today July 30, South Florida - The Local Channels still shows as “Programing not available” for PBS, CBS, ABC, NBC, Univision, Telemundo, plus few others.
My Guide is now also showing gaps. Fortunately, if something was pre-scheduled for recording. It seems to still record, but anything new is not possible when the gap is there. I assume at some point Tablo will solve this problem???
I am still have guide issues after the server issue. There are large gaps with several channels that go out for several days. I have rebooted and updated the guide numerous times. Anyone else having this issue? @Tablo what is the status of the guide provider cleaning this up?
At end of day, received an email for my support ticket asking me for:
- TabloTV MAC Address
- Type of device I’m using my TabloTV on (I’m using Google TV, I also have the app installed on Samsung Tizen (but don’t use it, prefer Google TV interface for Tablo), Roku TV (once again, I use the Google TV instead of Roku w/ TabloTV) and have it installed on Android Smartphone (which I don’t watch, other than to update the guide manually when it used to work)).
3). Whether I’m using a VPN (which I do not use to stream on Tablo TV).
4). And any other inquiry or error messages I am receiving (other than Tablo TV not being able to connect to the internet).
I see this is going no where fast.
Very possible that my Tablo TV 4th gen dual tuner just happen to die the day the servers went down… Damn LED burned out 6 months ago doesn’t help much with “status” of the unit.
Same for me. Lots of guide data missing. Cant record lots of things. Not sure how many more days im going to wait but, Im using hulu for now to watch what im missing but dont want to do that forever. The Tablo 4th gen is free. So I wouldent think they devote tons of resources/money into improving their free guide that quickley.Id be willing to pay for guide data if it was reliable like Tivo was.
I still have a lot of “Programming Not Available” sprinkled throughout the guide, but fortunately, if a program is scheduled to record, it still records OK even though the program guide is blank.
Also, I have been lucky enough that the program guide has not been totally blank for any channel. When I want to record a new show that has no program guide info, I can choose to record a show that starts before the show that I really want, and extend the recording time long enough to record the show that I really wanted.
Extend recording time from previous show to what I want to record is a great idea!
Thanks for posting and Im doing that now show I can at least watch on Tablo.
Has anybody heard whether this missing programming issue is being fixed?? I only read other complainers like myself but nothing from Tablo indicating that it’s being resolved.
Tablo did post yesterday that are aware of missing guide data are are working to resolve. No timeframe was given however.
Thank you
We are testing solutions to the issue causing missing or spotty guide data after the recent outage. We thank you for your patience and anticipate the problem will be resolved very soon.
Ok Tablo, when do we get our guide back? We all bought this thing to record as well as watch tv. How do we record without proper guide info? It’s been 4 days now since your last fiasco. What’s taking so long. I think you ought to offer a full refund for anyone who wants their money back! I just wish that I could receive minimum wage for all my time wasted while trying to make your inferior product work!
The last time gaps showed up in the guide it took a few days to fix it. On the other hand when Roku updated their OS an messed up the sound on some TVs connected to Rokus it took Tablo two months to fix it.
(I am trying to reply to Madd1One but the forum does not seem to allow replies to posts anymore, only to the topic).
