(Resolving) Intermittent Server Issues - January 2

It’s all about the money. They make more money from the streaming channels that you can’t record and you are then forcefully exposed to the ads.

Wow. Tough crowd  Of course it is about money, it is a business. Nobody forces anyone to watch any of the channels, and the more money they make in ads means keeping the guide free.

I understand now that Tablo must have a source of income to maintain services. Those details were not mentioned in any of the advertising I read. Given that Tablo is receiving supporting income to maintain services, why can’t those services be reliable? Daily service outages are not acceptable, certainly not what I expected when I made the decision to dump the expensive big name streaming services I had. CNN and the local OTA channels were all I ever watched and/or wanted to DVR. TABLO TV offered those basics without subscription fees, but so far doesn’t seem to deliver in a reliable and consistent fashion.

Well maybe your Server Operations are running smoothly, but my Tablo device isn’t.
G4 and Legacy app are very very slow. Never had the slowness problem others have reported until now.
Trying to watch live TV on G4 app, I get “Playback error due to data loss” (I think that was the wording).
Hit Retry, and it will eventually play.
Legacy app guide starts with a blank area for the channels, the slowly they fill in.
Takes about 30 seconds for only 5 guide items.
TCL TV with ROKU

No shows or events are showing up in my “Coming Soon” section to be recorded. Different day, different problem.

Saturday January 3, 2026 at 1:40pm CST… Again.

Guess it sucks to be you. I don’t want to jinx anything but I have not had too many issues except the Big One back in Oct/Nov. Maybe Tablo servers are regional and only affect certain users. Or maybe it is intentional as they monitor this forum. LOL

Hey just messing with you, we gotta have some fun once in a while. Or else this forum would be boring.

Actually the servers are regional. Remember back when their service provider went kaput? They have “points-of-presence” geographically dispersed.

That’s one reason it’s annoying when someone posts their system is always working just fine.

If the live grid is completely blank (Roku app) does that mean the data comes from Nuvyyo’s servers and not from the Tablo puck? What is the point of the overnight guide update?

Good point. :+1:

Yes.
You can see from my previous post my Live Grid error. You can also see the status information indicating the Content Infrastructure is down.

Content Infrastructure functions are listed on the status.

If the information was on my Tablo Gen4 why ask Mother? Maybe to collect that viewing data.

That’s how Offline Mode works. Your Channels selected directly.

I’m guessing that the only station data on the Tablo is in Channel Lineup > Your Channels.

Also 14 days of Guide data is stored locally.

I think the reason/point of an overnight Guide Update is to add FAST channels and to synchronize various databases with any cumulative changes both at the Mothership and from the users.

They seem to be consolidating data into the Guide Service.

Of course I could be wrong. I don’t work there.

Tablo is again not working. I’m getting error saying can’t connect to Tablo servers. The Tablo status page reflects everything is OK now (it did show an error). I called and spoke to someone from tech support who asked me what my problem was. I replied I can’t connect and shared the error I’m getting. The person said that Tablo technical support people were working to resolve the error. Why do support people waste our time asking what our issues are when they know that Tablo is having issues that Tablo staff need to fix?? We (customers) have been dealing with Tablo not being available since the beginning of 2026.

It’s intermittent. I just checked and it was down.

Also, I access Tablo from Samsung TV but there isn’t the ability to access offline mode? The only option I’m given is to Exit Tablo.

I’m guessing but if you block or unplug the Internet it should trigger the Offline Mode.

The Authentication infrastructure is functional so it doesn’t know that the other mechanisms are down.

I got access to offline mode on my iPhone (the option immediately came up) but no option on Samsung. Looks like I can access it on my iPhone and share the screen to my TV for now. Not good that Tablo is having such problems!

It is well past “the early morning hours on Saturday”. Nuvyyo’s tech staff are looking really incompetent.

As of 5:51am I can’t access live tv I’ve tried rescan of channels and soft reset. I understand that the systems were down on the 2nd of January. I’m hoping this isn’t gonna be like last time where it took almost a month to fix.

It says in the status of that everything is in the green but still unable to receive live tv.

Same here. Empty grid on the “Live” tab. But I can still view live programming by accessing popular programs from the home screen.

Yes some of the favorites in the home screen is better than nothing. But there needs to be a real fix to the guide.
