MPEG-2 is the native format for broadcast TV. It’s a popular format.
We’re not sure why Roku decided that their Streaming Stick+ won’t support it. That being said, MPEG-2 is supported by many other Roku devices. We recommend their Ultra Model.

Thanks, we’ve tagged Support.
It appears that Roku released a substandard, low-cost decice that isn’t compatible with the Tablo.
Please put that in the Amazon review when you submit it.
did this fix happen? i cannot get ny Roku to play a recording
Hi @Jbellarmada,
We did indeed: Tablo Roku App (4th Gen) Update (v. 1.2.1)
Would you share with us your make and model number of your Roku?
I am having this issue on my Legacy Tablo Dual lite.
Roku Ultra
OS version 15.0.4
Build 5534
Hi @smess ,
We’re taking a look.
Just to double-check, do you have closed captions enabled? Do you have Surround Sound enabled?
What audio settings are on your Legacy Tablo, and have you tried tweaking them to resolve the issue?
Does this happen on other platforms, such as iOS or Android Mobile?
No closed captions
Surround is always off
Have only seen it on Roku
I’ve seen a few suggestions of powering off (removing power) to the Roku. What I’ve found that works for me when apps in addition to Tablo TV lock up my device (Netflix, Apple TV, etc), I do a restart with cache clear. There is not a menu to do this function, but I learned the following from Roku support.
I find that my Roku device is far more stable doing this rather than just the standard “restart” from the settings menu.
