Recordings no longer play back

Tablo has been working fine for over a year and all of a sudden, I no longer can see my recordings. There are no failures and when I attempt to see one, it buffers and bounces back to the library. The problem has now migrated to some live streams. I have done a reset, and other suggestions from support. In the end, they say they are working on it. I’ve had this same response in the past.
My phone is able to play all.

Any solutions would be welcome as support was no help.

Which device is this happening on?

This sounds like the Roku 14 bug. If you are using a Roku, check to see if it was force ‘upgraded’ to OS 14. That has been causing problems with some devices. There is a workaround you can try:

In the settings for the Roku device, go to Audio → Digital Output Format → Custom, then make sure Dolby Digital is selected for the Dolby section. Can leave DTS off. Then go back to the Tablo app and try again. For some, this solves the problem, for others you might get picture, but no sound (it depends on the Roku/TV combination).

You can find more information in the thread called “Roku 14 and Live Grid Concerns.”

Good luck, and know that Tablo is working hard on a fix.

Samsung TV

Dude, you are the man. You solved it quickly after going through all the issues with Tablo and Roku.
Thanks, so much

Ooops, Sorry, now I get the replay, but have lost the sound

Is this a Samsung Smart TV running Roku TV or are you using an external Roku box?

I set it back to Auto and got sound back but same beginning problem

It seems to have something to do with a conflict between the new Roku OS and the Tablo app on the Stereo sound channel. Switching to Dolby fixes it, BUT your TV needs to be capable of accepting Dolby sound. At least that is the impression I get from digging through the conversations on this. In my house I have four Roku, two have ‘upgraded’ to OS 14. On one I was able to get picture but no sound, the other worked fine after changing the sound settings.

Unfortunately, I don’t have another fix for you. Hopefully, Tablo will push out a fix soon. If you look at it through your phone app is everything working?

yes, and thank you

Just a guess… Check the settings for your TV, see if you can turn Dolby on/off, or perhaps select between different versions of Dolby.

Worth a try…

no go…I have an external speaker and tried it and without. I guess I’ll just have to wait for Tablo to fix it.

Back to the same problem in the beginning

It seems in the last few days something was changed, as it worked perfectly well over at least a year until now.

Not surprising, Roku started pushing out OS 14 about two weeks ago. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any way to control when upgrades happen, and no way to roll it back.

I did the Audio setting update and now the VIDEO playback works. BUT with NO Sound.

I just wrote Roku through email about this, including fixes that have been tried. Maybe it would be good if more people wrote about the issue

Good idea! Please post any responses…

You and others should connect with them through chat or email. Below is what I sent on. You are welcome to copy, adjust to your situation, and pass on.
I would like to thank KGBnut for his time and best response I received.

ROKU Express and Samsung TV with Tablo 4th generation.

It seems that after going through Tablo and Roku, the situation seems to stem from your recent rollout of OS 14.

Until very recently everything worked fine with my ROKU Express and Tablo. Suddenly, I was not able to get my library playbacks and then it seemed to migrate to my live TV in that when I clicked on the selected program, it would buffer, snap to the program, and immediately bounce back.
Through the community I got a work around that brought the chosen episode, but had no sound. I then rolled back that fix and got no episode but no sound. I have tried numerous fixes around that and sound.
I can get everything well on my phone through Tablo and can cast to my Samsung TV, so it’s obviously a ROKU issue.

And that’s what I got.

Please tell me that you are either rolling back the update, or pressing on quickly to resolve this issue.

Thank you for your inf. I least now I know where is the issue . I have 3 Roku on on 3 diferent places at home one of then 3810X with last up date 14.0.4 and no issues at all , then model 3820X same update is the one with problems , the 3rd model 3820R2 OS 13.1.4 also no issues . The interesting thing is that two with different models and same update 3820X is causing all the problems. If we contact Roku don’t you think may fix the problem . TK for your help .
