🚨 Overnight Guide Update, Rescans and Infrastructure

It appears that the infrastructure still has not been working since Friday.

Every night the update hasn’t completed until about 12 noon CST.

I would recommend that no one try to re-scan or update the guide until it completes.

You likely will not be able to do a new setup installation either.

Do nothing until it finishes or an announcement is made by Tablo.

This is a company with a handful of employees who may be farming out development. Constant problems. I no longer recommend this device to anyone.

No issues here in your nearby neighborhood. I remember @TabloTV saying there was an issue with a FAST or OTA channel that was causing a similar problem. I think the resolution was to remove the particular channel and rescan. No telling if this is the issue or what channel to remove. We only have a handful (<10) of the FAST channels enabled, and less than 1/2 of the OTA channels enabled.

Just checked mine and all is working. Talked to the wifey and she hasn’t had any problems since the little outage we had a week ago.

I can watch TV and record. Those are not the problems… As has been reported a multitude of times.

That’s only a single-dog dare. :rofl: I believe that it’s not working the way it should. But why would I want to update my Guide? It updated just fine overnight and I have no reason to muck up the gears.

Like I said if you do nothing it’s running ok. If you got a Tablo for Xmas or need to update, as I do, then too bad.

According to the image I posted, it completed a little after 5:00 AM, so it took 3+ hours. So it appears the overnight has the same issue, it just happens while most are sleeping.

Yet again… Your experience is not the same as mine.

The only way it could be the same is if you tried a rescan.

This image is the overnight Guide update. I have not attempted a rescan for 2 days. I have posted for three days about this issue.

Finally completed.
So it’s finished around 11:20am CST. That’s about 7 1/2 hours.

Rescanned
Four minutes later and still 0% complete on the Guide update.

Now 10%
40 minutes later and 50%

I just set up a new 4-tuner Tablo on Dec 23 for a family member here in Houston. Setup was smooth, except guide updates are taking about 30-60 minutes. I went through the channel list a few times helping them fine tune their channel lineup from 200+ (including FAST) down to about 25 mostly OTA. Each time the guide update was very slow, but eventually completed. So far after 2 days, no other issues with the new Tablo.

As an aside, they are 100% xFinity WiFi and the Tablo has been reliable so far on 4 different TVs (all Roku based). They are very happy with the device.

Saved and hit the update button in the guide…

Then it popped over to this…

The scan did take about 3 mins to finish.

Maybe Tablo needs to reboot their Guide content server(s).

I would assume 2 things… It either already saw that it had current data downloaded and skipped. OR the Guide Server is messed up. BUT it downloaded 4 hours ago though. So it at least worked 4 hours ago. Also worked from the last outage till now.

I think that was part of the last upgrade to speed up by not doing it if it’s current/no changes.

It’s really irrelevant what they need to do. They need to do something. Or respond to all these customers.

Tomorrow is Boxing Day. Today they should have support.

It appears that they left early yesterday with outstanding customer service requests.

I think a whole lot of companies have tons of customer tickets in their queue and they took off Xmas Eve and Xmas. Can a brotha’ get a day off? :rofl: :rofl:

It is a Canadian company. I used to work in Mississauga near Toronto.

They don’t take off for Xmas.

That’s a SWAG guess. My gen 4 tablo had been unplugged for 4 days. When I saw that some FAST channels were removed I decided to install the new firmware and rescan. Rescan never completed. And the manual guide update which actually runs in the back ground on the tablo unit never completed.

But the over night gen 4 guide update did. Legacy manual guide update worked fine.
