My tablo worked fine this morning, but now there is no light! Tried resetting and a white light came on briefly, then went out. Tried plugging into a different outlet, no change.
Might you have turned it off in the settings? It is the LED option under General.
Thanks for your suggestion! I did check that in the app. Neither the Roku, nor my app can find the Tablo at all. I did have some networking issues on Friday, but they seem to have resolved. And, it was working fine Sat morning. Great idea tho!
So the Tablo itself is working, just not the blue light? Is it Gen4 or Legacy? Most likely, the LED or it’s driver circuit has died.
Assuming you have a gen 4 (white saucer) model, with light on top edge: one of my tableaux does the same, the other never had the problem.
Since the light issue does not affect functionality in my case, I chose to ignore it.
Another poster reported they made a warranty claim and were sent a replacement device.
If it worked, I would not care much about the light. But, it can’t be found on the network. Is it dead? Should I expect to buy a new one each year? Had it just over a year.
When you say “resetting” … do you mean a reboot?
Try rebooting your router. IF your LED was enabled it would be blinking to show you that it’s not connected. It’s hard to tell what’s going on since there’s no light at all!
Have you unplugged it for a 30s+?
I think of this…
What do you get when you browse to My Status - Tablo TV from a device on your home network?
and I thought Tablo was your “cup of tea”
Because I hit reset it was necessary to reinstall the Tablo. The blue light never came on. It stalled when trying to find the network.
In response to a previous suggestion, I removed the power cable for more than 30s, then reattached it. Still looks entirely dead.
By “resetting” I mean that I pressed the reset button on the bottom. That was after I had power cycled and tried different outlets.
So is the lifetime of this device just one year then it dies?
Network is not the problem. Rokus work fine, as do other internet devices.
Just to confirm, you just pressed the reset button and didn’t hold right? I accidentally factory reset my Tablo the first time because I wasn’t aware of the difference.
Have you tried rebooting your router too? Sometimes that fixes whatever hang ups there are.
Might be just a power supply problem. Try these troubleshooting tips.
I talked to Tablo, they gave me a procedure to try, which also failed and they are sending a new unit. So, thanks for all of your ideas, but it is just dead. Turned out that it was not even a year old, purchased Nov6 2023.
Glad to hear you’ve got a replacement coming.
It might help others in the future if you would share with us the procedure that Tablo tech support recommended – even if it didn’t work for you…
Thanks for keeping us updated!
This is the procedure Tablo suggested. Still did not work for my unit…
We are sorry that you are having trouble getting your Tablo to power on. As a test, please ensure that the Tablo is connected to a wall outlet directly (and is not connected to a power strip) and try the following steps:
- Unplug power the unit
- Press and hold reset button
- Plug in power while still holding the reset button for a couple of seconds
- Release the reset button and unplug the power
- Reattach the power supply without holding the reset button
- The Tablo will boot up on its previous firmware load
Thank you… that’s extremely informative. Most of all, it shows a user how to reset it to the factory firmware.
It does sound like there’s another issue at play here. Hope your new one works great! Sorry that you’ll lose all of your recordings. It would kill me inside!
