I can record my Titans game now, as I expected. It just needed time.
I’m able to record the Packers game now on my Chromecast with Google TV. I’m wondering if this is more of an issue with the data Tablo is getting instead of an issue with Tablo software. Either way, I’m glad all it took was time.
It just appears that for a gen 4 the schedule needs to not be in the indeterminate states of TBD or TBA.
This is really weird.
My guide shows the same generic information as it has all week, and although it had been marked to record, will no longer allow it. But under Sports, the Packers game does show up properly and I am able to record it there. Looks like it’s slowly replacing the data, and is getting caught up somewhere. Even though it’s smart enough to automatically NOT record something that’s mid-change, it’s going to be frustrating if I have to check the guide every day! (I’ve never been able to get a full 14-day guide, has anyone?)
If it’s roku you could always reboot it and see if better data reloads… The same is true for the actual tablo unit.
A 14 day guide only exists if the station or network releases a 14 day guide. And for OTA the guide typically starts at 12AM. So unless you are up at 12AM and are lucky enough to update you guide immediately after the guide provider gets it’s full list you can never get a full 14 day guide. 13+ was more normal for legacy devices.
While frustrating, pretty much all DVRs have this issue with EPG guided data. Things change. Even with the best EPG provider. And sometimes, things change in very very very accurate and last minute ways. Sure, we could argue that the data was “well known” and not changing… and sure, EPGs need to be better in those cases.
There’s not a good answer for this.
Life for DVR users, especially when dealing with highly dynamic content.
Edit: With all that said, the fellow that does it 1970’s old school VCR programming way… that is, I know my event is “at this time, on this channel, for this long” and sets up a manual recording entry. In this particular case, he’s the “winner” in that no matter how radical the EPG data changes, his “fixed” recording is going to occur. Obviously, of value only to DVRs that have manual recording capabilities.
If manual recording is at the top of the list of requirements for a DVR you are going to have to stick with the legacy device or other product until the gen 4 has it implemented. I’ll be happy when the gen 4 stops segmenting and chopping recordings from FAST channels.
(I don’t use Roku much – just an hour or so a night as I fall asleep, if I watch something on the Tablo. Any other use is for forum testing.)
12 days was the max I’ve ever been able to get to, and that was the same with FAST channels…
The EPG issue is entirely understandable, and I don’t expect it to reach a full 2 weeks. (You can’t go out farther than 6 days from the live guide’s channel submenu anyway.)
Hey… 1970s VCR programming still has its use! It is for these “fixed” recordings that I still use a PVR on occasion! (If I knew what was on my 3 missing stations, I might use it more often!)
I noticed early on that some programs didn’t record, and doing a search for the show I realized that the schedule had changed. Perfectly acceptable. I was just curious if anyone had been able to get two weeks worth of data (and my 12 days includes THAT day in question, so technically, it was only 11 days ahead.)
I am so sick of fails and splits.
But, I keep scheduling the same episode/movie over and over and over again, and maybe 40 times later, it works, or it’s only split into TWO sections that nearly add up to the total time.
We’re back at it folks. The Packers game was set to record a few days ago. I went to confirm this morning, and it was NOT set to record anymore. The game is the same time, but maybe the channel changed? I’ll try again this evening to see what happens.
Channels don’t change at this point. My Titans game is still set to record.
This is getting ridiculous. I tried recording from the live guide and from the sports tab. Neither work. I restarted the Tablo. Still didn’t work. I set the Tablo to record all NFL games. Guess what? All games were set to record accept the Packers game. Seriously?
Have you tried on multiple devices? I can record the Packers game just fine on both the Roku and Android phone.
What happens when you click on the game?
I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled on my android phone. I can’t record from it. I’ve done the same thing on my Chromecast. I can’t record on that either.
When you delete the app and re-install you probably delete the guide off the STB device and are screwed until it reloads.
I live on the west coast and the packers game wasn’t in the legacy guide. I thought maybe because it was a nothing burger game. This morning it showed up.
Do you have any screenshots of your issue?
Here’s what I see using my Chromecast. I can schedule the series recording for all NFL games. It still won’t record the Packers game though. It also fails to record when I choose it as an individual event too. On my android devices (Phone and Tablet) it does absolutely nothing when I press the record button.
Click on a different NFL game. Click on “Series Information”. Scroll to the Packers game. Click on it and see if you can record it.
Ok, that is the same error I received earlier this week. But it went away a few days ago.
And since you live in the area, you definitely should get that game.
It just does make any sense why it won’t record. I don’t think anyone else has this issue at this point.
