Nexstar drops CBS Network license in six local markets

Jackson, Mississippi has the correct guide data now for WJTV 12.1 (the NEW CW) and WAPT 16.4 (the NEW CBS). At this time, I can’t figure what 12.2 (the old CW) has been changed to. Also, 12.4 that was CourtTV has been a test pattern since this past Thursday. I am going to send a question to the station engineer for WJTV and see if that person knows what 12.2 and 12.4 are going to be.

I know Tablo doesn’t like to change the channel icons, but I really think they need to change 12.1 to the CW logo and 16.4 to the CBS logo to avoid confusion. I mean, those are major network affiliates after all.

Just checked the guide in ABQ and EVERYTHING is now correct.

CBS logo for 7-4. FOX logo for 13-1. No logo for 13-2.

Well then… It’s up to Congress now.

@CarbonCompound

Who didn’t see that coming?

Our future as consumers seems to be that almost everything will be controlled by a few companies making way too much money and dictating to the masses what we can have , when we can have it, and how much it will cost.

In the case of Nexstar losing CBS in local markets and Hearst controlling both ABC and CBS in some local markets the viewers are the losers.

In tha ABQ market KRQE losing CBS after 75 years as one on the three leading stations in the market now has the relevance of an 80’s UHF station.

And for me having to view CBS as a KOAT station with all the KOAT annoyances that drove me away as a viewer long ago is REALLY disappointing.

I’m glad I’m really old. I won’t have to live with this stupidity for a lifetime.

It sounds like you have been receiving CBS via FREE OTA. The key word is FREE. Users who consume broadcast TV still have FREE will. If they don’t like an OTA product they don’t have to consume it. Sometimes Zoloft helps people through such trying times.

@zippy

As one who grew up with 3 channels on a B&W TV I’m a fan of FREE OTA. I’ll watch the commercials and do business with the advertisers that offer what I want.

I won’t pay to stream and watch ads and I won’t pay extra to stream without ads.

I find it remarkably easy to uncheck channels in the guide.

And not bending over and pulling your pants down helps people through such trying times.

Well I was born in the 1940’s before baby boomers. So I might have seen a lot when it comes to OTA. But if a FREE channel no longer satisfies me I move on.

That hasn’t been my observation on this website. Nothing but bellyaching from everyone to everyone about everything.

The “Silent Generation” is a misnomer.
