Nexstar drops CBS Network license in six local markets

It’s curious that the FCC would allow Hearst to own TWO network stations (ABC & CBS) in the same Albuquerque market.

If you are a Jeopardy watcher in ABQ, better check your scheduled recordings.

I noticed my YoutubeTV did not record any episodes this week, and only had Gameshow Network episodes scheduled. Thinking this was a YTTV issue, I went over to Tablo, and guess what…..it too has not recorded any episodes this week, and had nothing scheduled to record. Series recording is still enabled.

Given the same symptoms on two completely separate systems, I have to assume that KRQE’s guide data is in transition and series recordings are somehow impacted. I was able to manually select individual episodes in upcoming showings and set up recordings for each, but series recording seems to be broken.

This may also affect other series recordings as well. We are still able to watch missing episodes a day later via Peacock or Hulu.

In Dallas, if the Nexstar/Tegna merger goes through, Nexstar will have 3 full power stations.

I expect everything to be screwed up for a while on Tablo, TiVo, DTV, and Dish.

Hoping it will all be corrected before the fall Network premieres… hope… hope… hope.

Ok….pilot error.

It was pointed out elsewhere that the issue with Jeopardy here is that that current airings are reruns, first recorded in January, and thus already on YTTV’s servers.

I guess that’s how YTTV does not fill their servers with multiple copies of the same program. Not really what I expected, but it makes sense.

And my Tablo IS set to only record new airings so all is as it should be.

Carry on…..

Even this FCC is investigating some of these recent moves.

Hey FCC… a little late to the dance aren’t you?

You would think these network license transactions/transfers would have to be approved by the FCC IN ADVANCE in order to happen.

With the FCC involved things will really get screwed up.

Gracenote now shows CBS on 7.4 in Albuquerque. But still shows grio on 16.4 in Jackson. TV Listings- Find Local TV Listings and Watch Full Episodes

Make sure you have Channel set to “Any” in the Series Information recording settings, and not a specific channel.

Update on the Jackson, Mississippi market:

I scanned last night and the new CBS subchannel 16.4 is active and labeled “Test” and duplicating the content of ABC on 16.1. Since 16.4 used to be active as TheGrio, the current Tablo guide data (and also Amazon Fire TV guide and Titan TV) shows programming for TheGrio, even after that programming went inactive a year and a half ago.

The really weird thing is that WJTV, the one VHF station on RF 12 and the one switching from CBS to primary CW affiliation, recently has become harder to lock in. Despite its ERP of 49.2kw and being only 24 miles away with a very clear line of sight, it wouldn’t register on the scan at 5:30pm. It was found later last night, though.

I sure hope Nexstar is not planning to reduce power on WJTV. It doesn’t need to lose power.

As of 8AM in ABQ neither Tablo or TiVo has the guide right.

Tablo guide still shows 7-4 as QVC but the CBS programming is there to see BUT the program times are off. CBS Sunday Morning starts @ 8AM MDT not 7AM MDT as the guide shows.

KRQE channel 13-1 still shows CBS in the guide instead of FOX but the CBS programing is gone.

KASA channel 13-2 still show FOX.

Not just Tablo. TiVo guide is still wrong also.

Even with advance warnings all these TV providers still drop the ball.

Looks like we’re gonna miss alot of recordings untill this is worked out… someday.

Update from Jackson, MS:

It turns out the problem I had with WJTV and signal strength was a now faulty Channel Master LTE/5G filter. I noticed the other tvs connected to an antenna had no problem with WJTV 12. Given this, I took off the LTE/5G filter and BAM! WJTV was back to normal. A new LTE/5G filter has been ordered and will arrive tomorrow.

As to the guide data, WJTV 12.1 the new CW and 12.2 (something else not yet known now) are not showing correct guide data. Titan TV shows the same guide data as Tablo for WJTV 12.1 (CW) and 12.2 (IND), but is CORRECT for WAPT 16.4 new CBS. tvguide.com has correct guide data for 12.1 CW but not 12.2 (IND) and correct guide data for the new CBS on WAPT 16.4.

Tablo is still pointed to TheGrio guide data, which is what USED to be on WAPT 16.4 until about 18 months ago. Tablo will need to probably change the TSID for this subchannel to receive the correct guide data.

Gracenote shows CBS programming for WAPT 16.4. Tablo need to update to the latest Gracenote data.

Yea, all the TV providers need to do is THEIR JOB IN A TIMELY MANNER. Anyone seeing that happen?

Tablo is especially a PITA because we can’t set a manual recording even when we know the probram is being broadcast. Come on Tablo… you can do it!

As of 6:50am Mountain time, Tablo guide data agrees with the guide data in Gracenotes for my zip code, but as you observed, it’s off by an hour for the transitioned channels.

My other source is YoutubeTV, and it seems to be right, but is it? As the saying goes, a man with two watches never really knows the time. This fuster cluck is just making my head hurt.

I set a recording of Sunday Morning on the new CBS station 7-4 in ABQ that showed it starting an hour earlier than the old CBS station 13-1 and it executed on time so the Tablo guide appears to be corret.

Normally I would compare guides with my TiVo but the TiVo guide has no program info and says “to be announced” for the new CBS channel at 7-4. TiVo is notorious for taking days to weeks to resolve guide issues.

Same. Looks like my YoutubeTV is the provider that is off by an hour.

Another update….Tablo still seems to be sorted other than the persistent QVC logo on the new 7.4 CBS channel.

In comparison, it seems as though YoutubeTV is proving the west coast feed for CBS programming……everything is one hour later than it should be in my market, which is also one hour later than Tablo, which is direct from the local stations.

@BrianL6301

At least in the ABQ market I agree… just the QVC logo is wrong.

Interesting that KRQE 13-1 always broadcast Sunday Mornings @ 8AM but KOATCBS 7-4 broadcasts it @ 7AM.

I thought the Networks set the braoadcast times for network programs.
