New Problem: Playback Stalled. Check your network connection

I have never had this problem before, now out of the blue, probably a collateral of the meltdown from 2 weeks ago, the situation keeps getting worse and worse

Try restarting your router.

Are you getting this on iPhone? I noticed the same PRE meltdown on my iPhone. But if I just select the channel again it starts playing immediately.

Old posting, but same thing that I’m seeing here. The Tablo can update the live program guide data, so it has a network connection. However, when I go to play a live station, I get “Playback stalled, check network connection” consistently. I’ve restarted the thing several times, nothing interesting, same results.

Another point, I’ve done a station scan and selected my normal channels. However, Tablo insists on adding a couple of the FAST channels to my selections, no matter how many times I try to de-select them.

I’m guessing that the thing is thrashed, but has anyone seen this and solved it? The only other thing I can think of is a factory reset to defaults, but that doesn’t seem like the right answer, considering the malfunctions.

By the way, we’re using Apple TV’s here, just for background.

Go into the AppleTV settings and turn off Continuous Audio Connection.

Thanks, wasn’t aware of this. By the way, that setting (Continuous Audio Connection) is nowhere to be found in the settings for our Apple TV’s with tvOS 26.4. Even if I could change that setting, this still doesn’t address the issue with Tablo adding a couple of FAST channels to my selections despite having been deselected. And a full factory reset didn’t affect the Tablo’s eagerness to make channel selections on its own.

Not a happy Tablo camper. Glad that I’m not actually using the Tablo for anything other than the channel scan signal strength display capability. The HDhomerun that I’m using now is doing great, but doesn’t have the signal strength listing that I get from Tablo and use to fine tune my OTA antenna. At this point, Tablo is a backup at best, but so buggy that I can’t bear to use it very much.

Hi @MrDoh,

If you deselect a fast channel, it should stay deselected.

If you haven’t already try:

  • Another channel scan, even if you don’t have to.
  • Uncheck the channels you don’t want to appear in the guide.
  • Save.

I don’t know if you’re aware that the signal strength in the Tablo does not show real-time signal. It is only recorded at the time a channel scan is performed. To do this, you would need to run a new channel scan every time you moved your antenna, which would be very cumbersome and inefficient.

If you need a real-time signal meter, AntennaManPA.com has one at a decent price. I think it doubles as a PVR with manual recording and channel adding.

Done, done, and done. Several times. Before and after the full factory reset.

Thanks.

Yes, I am aware of the fact that I need to rescan after moving my antenna. Not a problem, I have lots of time :-). The problem with the real-time signal strength meters that I’ve seen is that it’s only one channel at a time…if you move your antenna, it affects all channels. So a full snapshot of all channels is needed when I move my antenna. A full scan is very useful for that.

Thanks.

Are you using a VPN?

If you switch it off, are you able to save your channel scan and watch live channels?
